Sunday Weigh In - October 30, 2022

Good evening... I'm sorry I haven't posted a weigh in for today, yet.  As I noted in last week's post, there was a death in my family and just this evening, I arrived back home from a week long, very tiring trip, during which I flew to St Louis, then drove my 87 yr old brother to Iowa to see one sister, then on to SD to see our other sisters and attend the funeral.  Once that was done, we had to reverse the travel process.  It's so nice not to be behind the wheel of a car!!

I have no idea how my weight is doing... there were times over the week in which I felt like I was doing really well and my pants seemed to be a big looser, but since I haven't been able to weigh, I really have no idea.  I'll have to weigh in the morning and report on how I did.

How's your week been?  I hope you were able to reach your goal(s).

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Wow, that is a lot for a funeral. We've got one in two weeks and I'm feeling sorry for myself that we have to drive 150 miles up and have the service and the family gathering, then drive 150 miles back. You did quite a lot more!

My weight is about the same, maybe .4 of a pound less but since it's about 5 lbs. higher than I prefer, that's not great and is actually pretty annoying. With tomorrow Halloween, I'm sure to sneak in at least one "fun sized" candy bar. I'm going to try to go into the day appropriately fed, so I'm not hungry when it comes time to hand out treats.

My son just sat on the sofa with a hot cup of jasmine tea (straight out of the boiling pot), which he sat on the cushion next to his hip and it promptly tipped over and spilled onto him. Man, he jumped up screaming. His skin of his hip is scalded in a patch about the size of three people's hands. He's sitting in a cool bathtub right now, has taken ibuprophen, and we're watching in case it blisters. What we'll dress him in to keep it from rubbing on the raw area, I'm not sure --  he's always refused to wear sweatpants, so he doesn't have any.  I've read that you can tape plastic film over a scalded area with bandaids or medical tape, and that it keeps the clothes from grabbing onto the skin when you move, but it's not going to be less painful. Poor kid. If it blisters tomorrow, or just aches a lot, I'll take him to the doctor. (Guess it goes without saying that I've told him "that's it" on ever drinking tea on the couch again.)

Well, off to face Halloween. Hope everyone has a great week!

You seem to be staying pretty steady with your weight, which is good.  I'm sorry to hear about your son's burn - that must be pretty painful.   There's a burn spray. ca;;ed "Dermaplast" that you can put on the burn to help it heal more quickly.  I found out about it from the pharmacist when I burned my hand badly a couple of years ago.   My hand did blister and I had to keep it covered in order to prevent infection.  Anyway, it might be worth a try as it does help with pain.

I weighed this morning and I'm up a pound from last week.  With all the riding and lack of exercise, the only surprise is that's all I'm up!!

I get what mean by having to drive/ride the 150 miles to/from a funeral.  They're never anything we want to go to anyway and having to drive for 3 hrs can be overwhelming.  If I'd taken time to think about everything involved in my trip, I probably wouldn't have done it.  Unfortunately, at 87 my brother (who lives in St Louis) is developing some dementia and is unable to travel on his own.  It turned out to be up to me provide the means for him to see all our sisters -  one sister in a nursing home and another with leukemia, both in SD.  The other sister lives in Iowa and had a surgery done on her leg so was unable to travel.   Because of all the medical issues and age of the siblings, we have no idea when/if we'll be able to get together again.  That's a scary thought also.

Enjoy your week.
