Sunday Weigh in November 13, 2022

Good evening... sorry I'm so late posting - it's been a busy day.

The week has been hectic, but there really hasn't been that much going on - well, maybe!!  :-)

I've been trying to walk every morning with neighbor.  Unfortunately, I've had so much trouble with my feet and legs that I've had to cut back some of the walking.  The muscles in my legs (thighs) are really sore even though I walk every day and they should be getting stronger.   I do have an appointment with my doctor on the 17th to go over the x-rays that I had done a few weeks ago to try to determine the problem.  I'm sure it's going to be diagnosed as a form of arthritis.  Hopefully, not RA.

Anyway, as usual, my weight fluctuates and I bounce around by several pounds/week.  This week, I've had a lot of swelling in my feet, legs and hands, so I'm up by a pound from last week.  I'm concerned about the gain, because I can't seem to reduce the swelling for more than a few hours, unless I double up on my fluid pills, If I do that, the swelling goes down, but when I go back to regular dosing, it's like a "rebound" effect.

I'll acknowledge the 1 pound gain, but am thinking it's going to drop back down in a day or so.  As noted, I have an appointment with my doctor on the 17th and hope to be able to figure out this fluid issue.

So that's my story.  How have you done this week?  I hope you were able to meet your goal(s).

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful and successful week~~

I was down this week but only by a fraction of a pound (.2 of a pound on my scale) so I'll call it steady for a week. That isn't awful -- my son and I spent 6 hours on a train yesterday, so not much activity to cause me to lose more but also not that much food. We went to a funeral (kind of interesting to do it by train) and came home the same way, all in one day though had to sneak out the back of the church as the last hymn sang in order to meet the train schedule.

Our family farm was ransacked last week. It's a low-crime neighborhood, but we've been away enough that we clearly should have had a burglar alarm. The burglars got a TV and computer and keyboards, and some fur coats, but the worst was that they upended almost every drawer and threw the contents all over, and broke some things. The house is a mess. Luckily, most small valuables they might have wanted were all moved from the farmhouse to our city house during the fires last year. They did get a few things that had identifying information on them, and I've had to do Equifax reports on all of us to freeze our credit. It's pretty exasperating, the farmhouse had become a repository for things from my dad (deceased) and my mom and other family members, as well as our 25+ years of living there, so there was a lot of stuff to mess up. My husband was heard to opine that if they had just taken everything they dumped all over, it would have been better than them spilling it all over and leaving it on the floor.

Barb, how did the latest tropical storm affect you? I was thinking of you when it hit the news. Florida has really taken some hits.

Hope next week is better for everyone than this last week!

You're doing okay, holding steady.  Although I prefer to go down, I don't usually mind holding steady - better than going up!!

Your train trip sounds pretty exciting (and fun), since I love to ride trains.  I wish there were more opportunities to use trains as a means of getting from one place to another.  Of course, it takes longer than flying, but you get to see the countryside, etc, as well.   :-)  The only "real" train ride I've ever been on was in Austria, riding from Graz to Vienna and back.  It was so much fun!!

I'm so sorry to hear that your farmhouse was ransacked.  Your husband might be right - it would have been kinder of the perpetrator(s) to just take things vs dumping them out on the floor.  I'd guess they might have looking for small valuables, so it's lucky you've taken them to your city home.    A safe might be a good investment.

That said, I guess the bending, standing, lifting, etc to get everything put away again will be some pretty good exercise??  :-)

We did fine again with this storm.  Fortunately, it came in the southern part of the state again and, although it made a huge "swoop" through the state, by the time it got to us, the winds had diminished and we didn't get as much rain.  Unfortunately, other parts of the state didn't fare so well and there are buildings, homes, etc along the beaches that are completely gone, except maybe a wall facing the street.   It's devastating to those people, but I'm guessing most of them will try to rebuild back on the beach.  The beach is nice, but there's definitely something to be said for living in the center of the state.  Hurricanes and tropical storms, typically slow down when they hit land, so unless they hit almost even with us, we're likely to have a lot less damage.   That said - my area has been hit pretty hard a few times and it's not fun.  :-)

Enjoy your week.
