Blighted Ovum

Hi All,
My wife is testing positive for her pregnancy, the physician asked to take a dating ultrasound and the results show 7 weeks but no heart beat detected, we saw the Gestational sac and yolk sac with no fetal pole. And continued with second ultrasound after 9 days of the first one now the results says 7 weeks and 4 days. Now no yolk sac and fetal pole, is there a possibility to look for the fetus in the ultrasound after 2 weeeks from now.

Gosh, I'm really sorry to read this. Never say never though.  While there are averages of when one would see these things on ultrasound, there ARE outliers. Is your wife having any symptoms of miscarriage such as spotting, cramping or pain? The other thing that they often do is check the numbers. Her hcg number should be increasing if she has a healthy pregnancy and decreasing if she is about to miscarry. I would wait maybe another week to be sure. I feel terrible saying that it isn't too hopeful but one should never lose hope. Hugs to you and your wife.

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply. My wife is not having any symptoms of mis carriage.
That's a plus. There is a slight chance that your timing could be off or that the baby is developing but outside of normal. I'd be prepared for bad news but wait and see. You should know very soon. I'm sorry you both are going through this as I know it can be emotional. Wishing you a good outcome. And please know that if she does have a miscarriage, that most women go on after a miscarriage to have a healthy pregnancy
