Keeping Eye Open after Vitrectomy

My vitrectomy was on October 17th. It has been about six weeks since the procedure. I have been tying to make it a point to keep the operated eye open and not get into the habit of closing it much, in hopes that this will help rehabilitate it through use and also, possibly, help the brain adjust to it.

Is there a danger in not closing the eye or wearing a patch and exposing it to excessive light? Also, my pupil is still dilated, so extra light is getting in. Is there a danger to any of this?

Hi Doctor. Okay, thank you and I appreciate all of your responses. I may still post questions and comments to see if I get responses from other physicians or from users regarding their experiences. But again, I do appreciate all of your input.
Best of luck and as i said previous, the most important thing is taking good care of the eye that did not have the surgery
Absolutely Doctor, I will definitely monitor that.
