Wash eye?

Hello there. I work in a preschool and today one of the children accidentally spit in my eye after he had finished eating an apple. I was wondering if there would be any need to wash out the eye in case there was any juice from the apple in his spit? Might sound like a bizarre question, sorry.

Saliva is loaded with bacteria, and tap water can contain harmful amoebas—bacteria-like organisms that can cause an infection, along with chlorine and bleach. I disagree with using tap water and with this not being a concern. Any bodily fluid entering your body is cause for concern.
You can buy an eye rinse, and bottled water should be safe. If you get irritation or other symptoms see an eye doctor.
I keep eye wash in my first aid kit. It's good for even getting dust and eyelashes out.

Anytime something gets in your eye that should not have gone into your eye, you are always best to irrigate the eye with eye irrigation fluid, artificial tears  or if nothing else clean tapwater. That being said it is highly unlikely this will cause any problem.
