Bad tasting breast fluid

Husband complains that breast fluid tastes bad.  What can cause this and how can I stop it?  I know this sounds gross, but it really embarrasses me to have him think I taste bad.  I am not nursing and I am sure it is normal breast fluid, but haven't ever heard of anybody else having this problem.

Same with my wife, ended up being ivory soap bars. Leaves a medicine taste on nipples and clit. She changes to a more expensive soap, now I can't stop sucking her body.  Try changing soap!

I have had this my entire life. So, well over 20 years. I was told by a breast specialist, that a woman's body produced an oil type of fluid that cleans and is always in your milk ducts when you are not breastfeeding, which is most of your life. Your body is supposed to absorb it and it shouldn't actually come out, however if your body produces too much, it will not absorb and will come out with any stimulation. This stimulation can be as simple as a bra chafing. It is embarassing, I agree. You just find ways to work around it when in a romantic environment, but mine has never gone away. I have had many, many tests done, and it is not a disease or anything.

Had an ex-girlfriend with this issue.  It was very foul and I had to keep away from sucking on her breasts.  I would have a strong onion taste in my mouth if I did.  Out of a high number (over 90) women, she was the only one with this condition.

I know a woman who has had the bad taste coming from her nipples and now has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I'd get a check.

Ok...abt 4 months ago I was getting intimate with my new guy...after we finished, he told me my breasts tasted bitter...like extremely bitter. I was so embarrassed as no one has ever told me that. After reading all I found was that his chemistry and mine just don't mix. We fast forward to now, as I am reading abt my current cystic acne issue, which I have never had in my life, so I have been attributing it to hormones...so I am trying to figure out how to rebalance my hormones...well, an article I came across last night said something something "Candida"...I thought..."ok, what is candida?" As I research anything new I am introduced to so that I make sure I completely understand what I am reading...so after researching it I came across thrush. If u haven't heard of this, "Thrush" is a light to severe fungal affliction, which can affect the entire GI tract but esp the mouth. Please google it. Well, I have had this...on and off, very lightly for abt 6 months. I read something about thrush and a bitter taste in mouth, which made me think of the bitter nipple affliction in the past...and after googling candida and bitter tasting nipples...I found this article. I feel I am really onto something...So, my question is...has anyone else had any of these other symptoms? Acne, cystic acne, mood swings, bloating and lethargy after eating, oily skin, thrush or white spots in mouth...no matter how minimal (the images I found through google are much more severe than what I seem to have, but it's there) candida, and the bitter tasting nipples. Because I am either thinking I have an underlying hormone imbalance or candida or both. Thoughts??? If u want to contact me personally, contact me at.   ***@****

The fluid that my have an onion like taste to it is actually sweat that is in the ducts of your breasts and yes you have sweat glands under your armpit and on your breasts and on your face they are everywhere. That fluid has built up and when you express it, it comes out with a grey, brown, or semi black coloration. Well...that's actually milk and sweat. Normal. However, you should probably express your breasts before letting him mess with them. Otherwise expect that it may or may not happen. Its natural...gross...but natural.

Ladies, you should bring any nipple discharge to the attention of your doctor.  While hormonal issues can cause this, it's something to receive doctor's advice on.  There are things like tumors that are benign (non cancerous) in the pituitary gland that cause this (I've been checked for this), production of too much of a particular hormone such as estrogen (this WAS the case for me), and cancer----  however, with cancer, the discharge is typically colored or blood tinged.  also, infection can cause this.

I would make an appointment with your ob/gyn to determine why you are having the discharge without worrying about the taste of it.  you can report what is said about the taste but the real issue is that you are having it.

So, please see your doctors.  good luck

Hi guys,
I have this same problem And for everyone that's feeling embarrased, pls don't! guys nipples taste the same way,

The taste thats coming from the nipple is actually the taste of sweat glands every human on the face of this planet has it

I found this in  RSCH wash the nipples with shampoo, yes any regular hair shampoo. This other suggestion it not for everyone

Dabble a little chocolate around the nipple before he starts nibbling or Better yet stuff his mouth with chocolate/mint candy
Bottom Line dnt sweat the small stuff

I  am a 58 year old female who has already gone through menopause.  I too have a fluid that my husband says has a bitter taste.  Only one short suck will give him a mouth full.  He usually stays away from that breast.  I had a mammo 2 years ago and found I have calcification deposits on my nipple.  The radiologist told me not to squeeze the nipple any more and don't read on the internet about it.  What an anwer!!!!!!!     If I squeeze the nipple, I only get one drop.  It has been clear but has turned kinda dark colored. I have had this for at least 3 years.
I'm sorry there are more ladies going through this, but I don't feel so freaky now.
There has got to be an answer for what causes this.

Okay ladies with bad tasting embaresment, with all my reading and research i figured out that its something to do with sabaceous glands that secrete oil to lubricate. you should wash ur breast with shampoo and not normal soap and see that change. if normally ur bra tends to smell it should go aways too by washing up with shampoo too keep the oil under control :-) plus it also has something to do with ur diet! see the food that activates sebaceous glands should be reduced!

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!

From Wiki:
Glands of Montgomery are sebaceous glands in the areola (of the nipple). The glands make oily secretions (lipoid fluid) to keep the areola and the nipple lubricated and protected.

The portion of the gland on skin's surface is called Montgomery tubercles. The round bumps are found in the areola, but also on the nipple itself. They can become exposed and raised when the nipple is stimulated. The skin over the surface opening are lubricated and tend to be smoother than the rest of the areola.

there is no way it has ANYTHING to do with hygiene! i am almost OCD when it comes to personal cleanliness and have experienced the same oniony taste from my boyfriend's mouth after he ***** on my nipples. i have never had any discharge that i am aware of. and i also do not believe it has to do with a 'bad' diet as one of the posts said. i have a very healthy diet and am in great physical shape. this issue is extremely embarrassing though and i am so shocked to hear so many people talk about it, yet there are no answers! i am more interested to find out if it has anything to do with your PH being off- the whole flora/fauna thing....

Is it really a discharge/fluid? I seem to have a similar situation where my boyfriend tastes like onions after he has sucked on my nipples. This isn't due to a discharge... its mor of the fact that women wear bras all say long and sweat liners on the nipple. Its a combination of sweat and his mouth chemistry. Its really nothing to worry about. If it bothers you a lot, take a shower before hand and use and anti-bac soap.

Hi,  I've had that same problem for years,If I press my nipples I get a milky/yellow dischrage. My husband can't go near my breasts because I get embarrassed, we have both tasted the same onion/garlic taste over and over, somehow if he licks or ***** my breasts we know what comes next. I told my doctor, had and MRI of the pitutuary gland, mamography, sonograms and the only problem I have are two fibroadenomas, one on each breast. For my discomfort the doctor prescribed Dostinex and I just started the treatment.
Botom line...the bad tasting discharge does exists

Same issues here...so tired of everyone saying it's not supposed to happen or that they have never heard of it. WE NEED SOMEONE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE THATS WHY WE'RE HERE. My doctors have all said they have "never heard of that problem". Wouldn't you think some one would like to come up with a solution to make us girls feel a little bit more like ourselves? Think about the glands people...is it possible that the whole thing is related? Get back to me.

I agree that you should check it with your doc.  Don't have to say it "tastes bad," just say that you are having fluid coming from your breasts, and you simply want to be sure it's not from an infection or anything.  (Of course, you know it's not an infection, but at least that way you don't have to open the whole tasteful or not can of worms. LOL)  There is ALWAYS a way to mention things to your doctor.  Good luck!

Loved the "milking" comment.  ha ha  Not sure if him refraining for a while would do anything since he is gone out of town for months at a time sometimes and we still have the same thing going on when he gets back.  Oh well, thanks for trying to help guys.  It was worth a shot to ask here.  I'm too embarrassed to mention it to my doctor.

Maybe u dont actually taste 'bad' its just thats the way it tastes. Its like if you was breastfeeding for example ur baby would love it but hubby would prb think its yuk! But then its not for him is it! So maybe its just something like that? Maybe tell him to stop 'milking' u :-P

Another thing, having read the above post maybe he should stop a while cos maybe he's actually stimulating it to carry on? Just an idea

Well, learn something every day I guess.  I haven't lactated in 15 years, but I've never had "breast fluid" like that.  At any rate, here is what WebMD has to say about it...

Nonspontaneous discharge that occurs only when you press on your nipple is usually normal and occurs in the majority of women at one time or another. The discharge can be clear, cloudy, white, yellow, green, or brown. The more the nipple is pressed or stimulated, the more fluid is discharged. This type of nipple discharge does not usually indicate a problem.

Spontaneous discharge of fluid or blood from a nipple is a concern, except during pregnancy and breast-feeding. This type of discharge occurs without pressing or stimulating the nipple. Galactorrhea is one type of spontaneous nipple discharge and may be a side effect of a medication or caused by a noncancerous tumor in the pituitary gland (pituitary adenoma), decreased thyroid function (hypothyroidism), or certain types of cancer.

Call your doctor if you have spontaneous nipple discharge or a discharge from only one nipple (unilateral) or that looks like blood

Doesn't say a word about if it tastes bad!!
