Skin & ear problems in Bulimics?

I have been Bulimic for almost 20 years now. I have been experiencing many problems due to this. However, for the past 2 years or so, I have been experiencing sore-like acne on my face which are more concentrated around my mouth, chin, and jaw area. I have also had many ear "infections", which I heard was caused by Bulimia. My ears get weepy, crusty, itchy and very sore & red.

I heard that these were not typical ear infections, but caused from repeated vomiting. Could this be the case? I am very scared and need to stop. I have been to counselors, but never stick to it. I just stop going. Aside from my medical question, is there some kind of support I can get online on how to help myself??

Hi ready2heal, this may be 11 years late — but hopefully by now you don't have 31 years of Bulimia under your belt. Pun intended. Yes, your ear infections were being caused by the vomiting and irritation to your sinuses. They're all connected, you know.

I would suggest 1. Seeing an ENT Doctor or go to a walk-in clinic if you'd prefer the less personal setting and 2. Seeking out-patient or in-patient treatment for your life-sucking eating disorder. NEDA's website is www.nationaleatingdisorders.org.

And for real, see an ENT, good first step — it's irritation from vomiting to your ear canal causing the infections.

Has a doctor look at both of these . The sore like acne sounds like cold sores. If you have not seen a doctor PLZ do. There really is not any good online support . To heal one on one therapy is the best .
