Hi guys, i've been suffering for two months now, I really need help. Two months ago I was eating some chunkfoods, then I suddenly hit the decayed wisdom tooth(lower). The impact of it was really bad, the pain radiate to my jaw and face. The pain last for seconds only, I looked in the mirror to see any damage in my wisdom tooth, suddenly the tooth cracked. I ignore it, because the pain subsided, no swollen jaw and face no tooth ache at all. But after two days I started to feel sick, severe dizziness as if something is eating my energy inside my body, i feel pressure at the back of my head. Extreme fatigue, muscle ache and weakness, GERD, spaced out, balance problem. I can't concentrate, I want to just lie down in our bed and just sleep. I cried sometimes because I don't know what happened to my health, I am very healthy before that incident. I went to my dentist and told him the whole story, he probe the tooth and ask if it hurts, I said no. He told me maybe its just an anxiety. OFCOURSE NOT! The apperance of the tooth is really bad, too much decayed and cracked. Please help me.
The surgery doesn't hurt. I had general anesthesia, so I was asleep for the whole thing. I just had some numbness, no pain, for the rest of that day. I was really weak for a couple of hours after the extraction, and stayed in bed. However, I got the call that evening that my apartment had been robbed while I was away (I went to my hometown to have it done - I'd been away at school) . Way to get slapped in the face when you're already feeling bad! My dad had to drive me back up there to survey the damage, and though I was somewhat dazed, I was able to function normally. I went home and went to back to bed. I don't know whether it was the adrenaline rushing through me because of that event, or what, but I spent little time laid up in bed. The next day I was up and doing things around the house. The swelling went down, and that's when the pain started. I'd had 3 teeth out, but the pain was mostly in my lower gum probably because my lower one had been fully impacted, so it was the toughest to get out. I never took the Vicodin though. I was prescribed both Vicodin and prescription ibuprofen because the pain can vary person to person. Ibuprofen was enough for me, but I had to take them every couple of hours. I also had some bruising, but the whole experience wasn't NEARLY as bad as I thought it would be.
Unfortunately yes there will be a period of discomfort and pain post-op however this can generally be controlled with analgesics and post op care instructions. I would allow 5-7 days post op before returning to work or school as you will be a little miserable, swollen and possibly a little bruised.
Hi,
If you need to have all four removed you will usually be given the option of having two taken out at a time or removing all four at once. If you are stressed about getting it done I would encourage you to have all four taken out at once. You can also opt for local or general anesthesia. Honestly, after the injections the proces doesn't hurt but is just awkward having them tug and pull at your teeth. After getting them removed you will be swollen for a couple of days. It is not that bad. If you are really worried you can have the general anesthesia and have it all done in the wink of an eye. This is a very common procedure so don't worry about it.
Good luck.
