suboxone withdrawal

can anyone out there tell me what to expect from suboxone withdrawal?  i've been taking 8mg a day to avoid methadone withdrawal, for only 4 days and i have a few left.  is it as bad as methadone withdrawal and does it last as long?

i know you are right, bolpak, but i still don't know what to do about my sister.  she will feel as if i am abandoning her if i stop visiting.  my husband already knows i use, he just doesn't know how often.  he used to be a heroin addict but he doesn't even seem to be into the pills anymore.  very weird, but you'd think that would make him more sympathetic or at least understanding.  his thing is that if HE can do it then it shouldn
t be a problem for anyone else.  he is not me.  i have trouble with a mood disorder as well.  they tried to diagnose me with bipolar disorder (the disorder of the decade!) but they were wrong, i am just depressed.  no mania, but they tried to drug me for it anyway and the meds they gave me made me want to kill myself.  anyway, i now take wellbutrin and it helps but i still have bad days and that is when i RUN for the methadone.

You have to tell her!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I found the more people I told the better I felt!  Especially a therapist their the best one to tell that way you have at least 1 in your corner..  B4 you go, tell your husband whats giong on and when you get there tell open up!  Dont b afraid to tell em both in your session that you have a problem and you need help....  I bet it wont b as bad as you think.....

i've had an on again off again addiction to methadone for years.  my sister has pancreatitus and gets them prescribed and is MORE than willing to share them with me.  i know the only way that i am going to kick it is if i avoid seeing her for a while, which makes me sad and worried for her because she depends on me for many things, mainly friendship.  she hardly ever leaves her house and the only people she really talks to are my mother and myself.  i know i cannot go over to see her without taking drugs.  i am not that strong.  i know i can go through the physical withdrawals on my own but the problem is more the long term and my relationship with my sis.  plus my husband is not very supportive, so most of the time i don't even tell him when i am using.  we will be going to see a marriage therapist soon so at least i am beginning to work on that part of the problem.  still, i don't know what to do about my sister and my temptation to use.

Sadly, yes...the half life for sub is a bit**. It builds up in your system. But that is a good thing for you as you need to spread them out. So what you do is tomorrow, you take a half, and that is it. Then the next day take the other half and that is it. Then break the other two into 4 peices each. The next day take a quarter and then a quarter , so on and so forth for a few days. Then go to every other day. Only take it when you feel bad, I mean, I am not telling you it will be easy and pain free. You may have some w.d but not as bad as if you jump off 8mg. Some who have successfully gotten off Sub with a slow taper, had only headaches. I swear. Good luck

Try n take it as slow as you can..  As you surely know if you hear all the symptoms to expect you probably will feel em all..  How long have you been on opiates??  I know that when I start coming off opiates and I see or talk to somebody who is also w/d I would start to get the same w/d as him!!  If you only have 3 left you should try n stretch em out for a week n a half if possible..

If you've only been taking sub for 4 days you probably won't experience much for wds from that.  Sub also has a long half life (36-72 hours) so it may take a couple of days before you feel the "worst" of it.  Wds from methadone can last a long time, so once the sub is out of your system, you may feel leftover wds from that instead.  Many people feels wds for months after getting off methadone.  Have you considered going to an inpatient detox or any other method to get off the methadone?

thanks to all.  i don't have any experience with suboxone, even though i've been through WD with just about every other kind of opiate (i agree oxys are the worst!).  i didn't realize i have to be that careful with them.  i only have 3 left but i will try to stretch them as far as i can.  is it really slow like methadone where i would not start feeling the WD until a few days without them?

i wish i could just take a gun to that "addict mind".  it is evil.

Pretty much half the people on here have successfully gotten off their DOC with Sub. MYself included. I was taking 15 80mg Oxy's a day. And Sub got me off of it. It needs to be dr.supervised or slowly tapered if not. It can be a miracle drug if used properly. I am going on 8mos clean. It can be done with Sub. Just try and wean down to as little as you can every day. then spread it out to every other day.

Im on 1²mg a day. I was on rouggly 300-360mg a day. Had been prescribed 40mg a day for 4 orn5 years. Still was perwcribed when i went to detox. Sent me to hospital instantly. I commented abovd if u feel like reading.


Did u withsrawal bad when u came off sub? How long will it take? Wd got so bad if it hit day 2 or 3 i would look for the easiest way to kill myselr bc i had mant failed attempts bc the body just doesnt allow itself to do it. If wd will be as bad as oxy then why am i even in this!?   Im stocking up on clonidine i dont take incase onedsy i need them

YES< it will be that bad if you jump right off of 8mgs. If you have some left, break them up. Start taking halfs, then quarters then if you can, spread it out over a couple days. Like only take it unless you really need it. If you jump right off of 8mg, you will have w.d. Good luck

I have to say I am just coming off oxy... (and damn near everything else but OC was the worst)  I don't want to sound negative or discouraging, but please do your research on the Subs, and if you can do it, go to treatmeant, have a friend lock you in a basement, I would really try anything before going to Subs to get off the beans... your strong and you can do it. The mind can do anything, just don't let the addict mind over rule the logical smart one :)

I went to detox. They instantly within minutes sent me to hospital.  Then i was given clonadine and q0mg diazepam..... twice.... then injected with atavan... then went to detox. Next day started me on 8mg. Then 10 mg. Then 12 mg. And man do i ever feel close to the old ME. Before... holy ****. I was supposed to TAKE CARE AND SUPPORT my mother. She moved in. And i ended up putting het 24-27k in debt 90% drugs! I was up to 300-360mgs of oxy a day. And suboxone and clonosine and diazepam works so well . I only got cravings twice and it lastes ŕoughly 10 minutes.

Why are you so agaisnt it? If its abusing on street thats onenthing. But i was scared ******** to go to any detox or treatment centers. I thought it would be HELL. And make u go through straight withdrawal. But nope it was the best decision in ny life. 2 meetings a day actually helps so so so so very much. I felt so ******* alone and like noone understood me. Andnthen suddenly in surrounded by ppl that can relate and some even deeper down the holenthan myself.


So why say no siboxonr? I really want to know . (I live in canada intario btw. Idk if that makes adifference )

YES,  Thats what I've found all the people on medhelp have been doing.. They make 2mg. tabs and when your ready thats the size mg. you should be on.  You cant come off 8mg. tabs well without feeling something..   also you could break em into 1/8 size to get to the 1mg.size.  I know they seem like A miracle drug but they are still addictve just like hydro n methadone so b4 you come off sub. make sure you taper slowly...

so what would i do, cut the pill into pieces?  i only have the 8mg. tablets.  it was not prescribed to me, i got it from a friend so that i can function but i know i am swapping one withdrawal for another.

       I've been on suboxone for 5yrs now..   Even though suboxone is not a real opiate it does have its own symptoms that you will notice when you come off..  I've felt almost the same as when I came off methadone, shakey muscles, headaches, a lot of the symptoms I felt coming off methadone. You DO have to taper slowly off suboxone even down to 1 to 1/2mg.  and even lower if needed. I hope the best for you n good luck........
