Stem Cell Therapy for dilated cardiomyopathy

I'm interested in learning anything I can about stem cell therapy for idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy.  I've checked out the clinical trials and have found only one now recruiting in the U.S.  A year ago I was pretty intrigued by the treatment provided in Thailand by Vescell, but after investigating it a little more I became wary of it because they use solicited testimonials from patients who claim it has helped them, but there is no data provided on how many people have received treatment and what the success rate is.  Any information about this topic is welcomed.

I have read about Dr KM Cherian in Chennai, India. He is a Padmashree award winner and has done stem cell therapy for DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy). I am not sure about the cost but it might be in the range of 12,000$ to 14,000$. Read at another website that the cost works out to only a mere 1000$ ..... Yes it is not a typo. A 1000 dollars
Worth a check since this doctor has worked abroad.

EF can definitely be increased with stemcells as they regenerate blood vessels in the heart making the walls thicker and stronger thus pumping more strongly. There is no other way this can be done. Regenerative medicine is the future. Why it is not being legalised is because on one hand we have the on the shelf foods vs the statin industry vs the stents industry???

Hi to you and others who are in this community. I am a patient of myocardial infarction caused by ischemic heart disease. I have done some research regarding stemmcell treatment. It is available in bangkok where they use your own fat derived tissue stem cells from the abdomen near navel (where we are connected to the umbilical chord at birth) through lyposuction. stemcells are seperated, activated and then reinjected intravenously into your body. Blood markers in the blood target those cells to the part of your body which requires regeneration or attention. In Bangkok this treatment can be possible in 10 to 15000 usd. also in China where I have enquired about my condition costs 22000usd for three IVs and hospital charges. Hope someone can benefit from this info. It is also available in India. needs abit of surfing.  GOOD HEALTH...... I am just waiting to know if it can be useful after four years of MI

Guys, VesCell, Theravitae, Regenocell Laboratories, and Kwalata Trading are, very probably, fraudulent firms! Has heart disease knocked out the screws in your head or something?? Give your hard earned money to worthwhile causes, not to a bunch of shady scumbags. VesCell is run by a company called TheraVitae - which has to file reports with the US Edgar database; dito Regenocyte Theraputics - formerly GOOD BUDDY’S COFFEE EXPRESS! Use Google, you idjits!

FORM 8-K
Date of report (Date of earliest event reported): July 16, 2008
REGENOCELL THERAPEUTCS, INC.
(Exact Name of Registrant as Specified in Charter)
On July 16, 2008, RegenoCELL Therapeutics, Inc., formerly Good Buddy’s Coffee Express, Inc., a Florida corporation (“ RCT ” or the “Company”) completed actions necessary to change its business strategy from opening drive through cafes which will offer clientele during the morning commute coffee and pastries within one minute after cash is received from the customer to a new stem cell therapy business opportunity as set forth in a Letter of Intent dated March 31, 2008 with TheraVitae, Inc. (the “Stem Cell Business”). These actions included the filing of Amended Articles of Incorporation which among other matters changed the name of the corporation to RegenoCELL Therapeutics, Inc. and increased its authorized capitalization to 600,000,000 shares, approved Amended Bylaws, issued restricted common shares, par value $.0001 per share, to Douglas T. Rice (250,000), Domenic Mazza (5,000,000) and James F. Mongiardo (15,000,000), ratified the March 31 Letter of Intent with TheraVitae, and approved the Employment Agreement with James F. Mongiardo as President and Chief Executive Officer.

I wish that this was a thread where there was more activity.

I have gone through all the layers of past posts - that you see at the bottom of this column.

It is incredible to imagine - that someone with a real low EF - could get back into say the 40's range - from stem cell therapy.

I need CABG - but no one will operate on me because my heart is too weak.  With one's EF brought up via Stem Cell Therapy - maybe I could be helped.

Recently - at my Cardiologist's Office - I asked him if he knew of any trials in New England [I'm in Maine]

For Goodness Sakes - you would think that - at east - the Boston major hospitals would be doing something.

The closest I see to N.E. is in New York State.

When I brought up the subject of Stem Cells helping me - to my Cardiologist.......

I got one of those "Doctor Looks"................................You know what that looks like.

Please pray for the advancement of Adult Stem Cell Research.

Hi,

I am from Calcutta, India. Am suffering from dilated cardiomayopathy. My EF is about 25% as per last ECO done on 06/04/2010. Can somebody tell me whether it is possible for me to get a stem cell therapy or any other alternative therapy that could increase my EF.

I really need help. In our country this disease is considered as a very very rare disease. Please let me know some more info about it if possible.

i'm a firm believer in the stem cell implatation,  been trying to get in a clinical trial for quite a while.(can't afford for the paid procedure )  the trials are all over the place, another good website is the clevland clinic, you can commuinicate with health professionals with questions.
also you can call the stem cell companies direct to find out where the studies are, they are very responsive.
check out my article, it will lead you to a lot of sites.

like i said, the trials are everywhere, good luck to both of us

this is a new forum for me. i came across your past dialogues with jo846 over the past year.  looks like we are in the same hunt for a fix for heart failure. in my case it is congestive heart failure with the lower left ventrical pump that is weakened to an ejection fraction of about 20.

it is encouraging to read about a real person who took a chance plus $54K to have the adult stem cell therapy done.  big bucks. i did communicate with her and wished her well.

right now, my quest as is yours, is to get accepted in an appropriate clinical study.  no luck so far athough i did get some attention from the texas heart institute from an online application.  but when i subsequently questioned their handling of the 1/3  placebo group in that they will go through the entire invasive procedure but with a saline solution, they never responded back.  must be a touchy issue.

i did mention to jo846 that there is a group of american doctors called American Stem Cell Therapy Association (ASCTA) who are confronting the FDA, working in liason with their congressmen and writing a "white paper" listing all the essential and necessary precautions that must take place before introducing your own stem cells back to your body.  they do want stem cell therapy now, not when FDA gives their blessing years from now.  of course there is big money to be had by these doctors for all kinds of illnesses.  they contend that the big pharmacudicals insist that FDA treat the adult stem cells extracted from ones body and regurgitated (whatever) for going back in to ones body takes on the characteristics of a drug.  ergo FDA must treat it a such and go through the lengthy process and trials etc.  all while our life span is shortchanged and caput.

i do not know the validity of the ASCTA group, but one of the founders is the same doctor that treated jo846.

keep me posted as to you clinical trial quest etc.  thanks

$54K, ouch.

That's a terrific improvement in your EF - very encouraging.  Please post the results of your Feb. tests; I'm very interested in hearing about your progress.

My best wishes for continued improvement.

Without a doubt there has been improvement.  MY EF went from 12 to 25% when last checked.  I am due for another echo at the end of February.  I am able to walk further and talk longer - with animation - then I have been able to do in a l-o-n-g time.  I will keep you informed. Should you have any questions - let me know.  I am eager to share the word and let people know there are alternatives!

Thanks for sharing that information.  I understand your concern about the blind studies.  I've looked into several and applied for one.  There was one that offered the prospect of a crossover from one group to the other after 3 mos.  I looked into that one but I didn't meet all of their qualifications.  I aplied for one in Utah, operated by Angioblast.  Rather than being blind, it is a comparison of the efficacy of intercardial injection of autologous stem cells, between a group of patients with ischemically caused DCM and a non-ischemically caused group.  In reviewing my records they found that I had a smal amount of plaque in two different heart veins, so they couldn't clearly distinguish whether there was ischemic involvement in my case or not.  They put my records aside and may review then again later, depending on how successful their recruitment efforts are.

Please do post your progress on this site.  I'm very interested, and even though it would require an equity loan on my home, I may yet opt for the Dominican treatment if nothing else materializes within this year.

My American Cardiologist, Dr. Grecos, who did the actual surgery in the Dominican Republic, is located in Florida.  Cost was $54,000 cash.  I am due for another echo at the end of February and will let you know if there has been further improvement.  Sure feels like there is!  The problem with the studies in the U.S. is that they are "blind studies" and I didn't have time left to wind up being on of the "blind" participants that did not get the stem cells.

I also have been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, and am very interested in this procedure.  A transplant has been suggested in the future, but we are still a long way from making that decision.  My cardiologist studied at the Texas Heart Institute and has even suggested I go there for a second opinion.  He was the on-call doctor whenever Vice President Chenney was in Lexington, KY.  So, I feel that I am in good hands.

Thanks for sharing that info re: your own experience with stem cell therapy.  It's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for, but didn't that cost you a fortune?  I thought they were chargin $40k or more for that procedure.  Who was the lead doctor?  It sounds similar to what was being done in Thailand a year ago and more.  That procedure used autologous cells from the patient's hip bone marrow.

When you say it worked, what inprovements did you notice?  Was there any actual physiological remodeling of your heart?  I'd like to know anything and everything you can tell me.

Thanks again.

I am a STEM CELL recipient...23 MILLION STEM CELLS, on November 11, 2008.  My blood was drawn in Florida.  It was flown to Israel where MY OWN stem cells were replicated - called "autoglunous(sp)"  I met my American Doctor in the Dominican Republic a week later and the 23 Million were injected into my heart via an angiogram.  It works!!  Anyone wanting further information - I would be only too happy to share.

I also have been researching more on Stem Cell Therapy for my husband. He is only 47 yrs of age, heart attack at 39 yrs old, 4 bypass, VF & VT, and Stage 4 Renal Failure...on top of everything else, his heart is working EF 34-38%. Due to renal failure he has to be extremely careful with heart meds. So that puts him in a very high risk and basically there is not much that can be done other than possible Ablation which is not advised by his cardiologist.

I still have not lost hope. There are clinical trials being done at Texas Heart Institute. Enrollement started in October (this month). There are also clinical trials at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. I also checked UCLA and found there are clinical trials pending as well.

The stem cell trial being done at Texas Heart Institute uses your own cells from your bone marrow and then injected directly into your heart. Google Texas Heart Institute and there you will find the phone number to help you. I called and left a message. They were prompt as to returning my call and answering all my questions. My husband was actually a good candidate but was unable to participate due to unexpected surgery. Darn so close to a miracle.....

Please keep me posted.

Keeping my fingers crossed,
Crazybeats
