Low AFl

Hello All, I went to have my 20 weeks u/s on friday (12/05/08) to find out the sex of my baby. I unfortunately found out that I have LOW AFl. My OB sent my to a Fetal Monitoring Clinic as an Emergency Fit-in and the u/s tech there found the same thing. The specialist then sat me down and explained to me that I have a slim chance of having a full term pregnancy - I could possibly have a stillborn in the next few weeks or if I go full term and deliver - my baby will more than likely past on away about 2 hours after birth.  I have to return next wednesday for another u/s and hopefully all this drinking water and relaxing has helped. I'm just scared that I won't have enough fluid again and they will bring up the option of termination again...I will never terminate my baby (I've tried for over 13 yrs to get pregnant). This is my first baby at 36 y.o. and I will do anything for my baby to survive. I just want to know if there is anyone out there with the same issue and if you are out there what can we do to help our babies live a fullfilling life

Congrats on the little girl! I too am having a girl~ We are naming her Isabelle Kay. I understand exactly what you mean about loving someone so much and you've never even met them. I love my daughter so mch, and can't wait to see long legs, and hands, and her little tummy that I have seen so often in an ultrasound, and felt kick, and touch me. Such a neat experience!!!

The news could be a lot worse, but just take it easy, and don't stress to much. Relax, and get pampered. It'll be good for you and Dacotah!

Thank you for your well wishing :-). I went to the specialist yesterday and my AFl was 5.93. She said its not Great news but NOT BAD NEWS (thank God). I also found out that I am having a baby girl!! I been waiting so long to find out what we are having.  I can't wait to hopefully see and hold her. We are gonna be naming her Dacotah Lynne and I hope that she will come into this world healthy and sound. How can you love someone so much when you haven't even met them? Have you ever wondered that? Thanks again for the post.

Look up Acute Fatty Lover on wikipedia. It said on thre the chances of it being fatal is slim, and there are things that can be done to help the mother as the pregnancy goes on and before and after delievry.

I'm sorry that you're going through this.  I wish there was something more I could do.
