Recurrent EKC

Hi,
I'm suffering form recurrent EKC for 4 month, it has happened now 3 times in one of the eye, although the irritation and redness are relatively lower than the prior ones still I want to ask why it's recurrent? Is the EKC infection recurrent for most of the patients? Approxamately how long it takes to cure completely, I'm also suffering from alergic rhinities so I'm using a nasal spray Nazalast, Is there any side effect for this which migth be the cause of EKC, I think Nazalast is just a local steroid isn't it?

Many many thanks in advance to reply my question :)

Thanks,
Arunabha

Hi Doctor,
Also I use NAZALAST nasal steroid for allergic rhinities for almost 2 years, is it causing the eye problem by any chance? is there any possibility of getting cataract or vision problem due to that?

Thanks,
Arunabha

Hi,
This is 5 month over till it was infected with EKC, I still have vision problem in one of my eye, doctor said it might be different case from EKC, one of the eye is being used less, i mean to say it has become dormant slight a bit, after checking the power also it doesn't help, it seems tha clarity is not there , also I can't read television headlines from a distance of 5 feet clearly from the eye qwhich was infected( slightly blurred) . Is it a side effect of EKC. One more point I can feel the vision of one eye is less compared to the another, and I can find this problem for a long time. And i got EKC on tht eye first, and then blurrness is increased. Can you please suggest what might be teh problem. Doctor has given me some refresh gel to apply & also some excercise ( like concentrating on a pen tip on 1 feet distance and slowly moving towards the eye and try to focus).

EKC is an extremely variable disease.  Some get many recurrences of corneal problems.  This is usually treated with topical steroid drops.  It seems yours is getting better.

I do not believe the nasal spray is contributing to the problems.
