Chewing

My niece is 8 years old. An average, shy student. Trinity has a habit of chewing on almost anything and everything. From her clothes to her toys. None of her barbies have feet. She destroys everything we give her. She also has on numerous times cut her hair down to the scalp. She is very impulsive, but always remorseful.. She has a few friends, although they say she is very "bossy". I must add that she is currently on medication for ADHD. She sees a couselor every few months, without any benefits , that I can tell. She is a lovely, respectful child. My brother is at his wits end. What can you advise?.

It can be due to a couple of things but yes, a psychiatric issue is one of them.  Do you know much about this?  Someone you know have this issue?

Craving to chew is from lack of iron.  Dramatically increase beef in diet.

Yes, have your brother get her back into the doctor.  My son chews everything as well.  We have even bought him "chew Toys" so that he won't ruin clothes and other things.  It is a nervous habit and often goes along with a medical condition such as ADHD or as in my son's case, Aspergers syndrome.  Maybe she needs counseling more often.  But she should for sure be seen by the doctor

As Trinity is on Meds for ADHD the first place to start is for your brother to take her to the Prescibing Doctor and check if the dose is right or if she needs it changing.,it is known that htere are side effects to some of the meds used .It does sound like a nervous unhappy habit, what would she be upset about apart from the 'friends' saying not too kind words about her, does she get on with her teacher and find school okay. What does she say when asked why she has done it ?
