Large Bilteral Chocolate Cysts & Fertility

I have recently been found to have large (6 cm) chocolate cysts in each ovary.  My OB/GYN and a second opinion have both recommended lap surgery. Do you have any idea what this means for my fertility? I am not trying to get pregnant now (I'm 26) but would like to in the future.

Most doctor want to remove an endometrioma that is larger than 4cm.  If you have pain then at any size, it should be removed.  If you do not want surgery and do not have pain and wait, then you could have torsion ie the ovary twisting on you or the cyst could rupture--both which can be very dangerous. But it is up to you, if you do not have pain and want to wait, you can but you should be monitored closely.

Reasearch all you can on the internet about the diagnosis and be proactive with your treatments.  There is nothing worse than finding out that you could have been treated early on instead of waiting for Mr. Right to correct your problem just to find out you are not infertile.

is that endometrioma you are talkin about?Last May 2008, an endometrioma was seen on my US,my doctor prescirbed me DANAZOL TABLET 2x a day, i took it for 4 months.Thank God that endometrioma disappeared according to my last US.But i guess this surgical procedure works best also.Better for these cysts to be removed as early as possible...
