Such is the way of CT scans. I have annual low dose CT (LDCT) scans performed for my lungs since I am a former smoker and older, and the radiologist report usually includes side comments about heart, aorta, and coronary artery appearance in addition to the pulmonary findings.

What prompted you to have this done annually?  Have you previously had findings?
That’s the interval recommended by LDCT protocol. If something suspicious is found, the scan is repeated in 3 months. I had such a repeat scan performed in 2017, which resolved a suspicious finding as being of no concern, and I returned to annual screening afterward.
Oh, okay.  Yes.  So often things seem turn out to be nothing and very glad this was the case for you.  Best of health to you.
Thanks, I started having these done soon after they were first offered in my area. My PCP has to refer me to get them, and the cost is minimal. It used to be only $50 to get them by self-pay when they were first being offered, then when health insurance started covering them about three or four years ago the copay ran anywhere from $100 to $200, either of which is a bargain in my opinion especially considering that includes the radiologist report.. The radiation exposure from a low-dose CT is much less than the normal CT would be, and no contrast is used, so I feel like it is one of the best screening options available.
That is great information.  We so appreciate your sharing with our members and participation on the forum with your personal experience.  We hope you continue to come back and help!
One last thing I forgot to mention earlier, the American Lung Association started promoting this screening procedure a little over a year ago. They provide a fairly decent overview about it on the web, easy to find on Google by searching "Saved By The Scan".

I went in and had a stomach scan and two days later they called me and said that the found 4 nodules 2 were calcified (that's good) two were not they were 6cmm. They did a full scan of my chest and found two more which were calcified. total 6 nodules. I had a petscan done and it showed no cancer. I will have cat scans done for the next 2 years to rule out cancer. Here is my understanding of modules. Yes, they can be cancer or as my doctor states they can be from earliar infections or something that got in your lungs. My dr was never worried, but i'm a nonsmoker... I had an emergency doc tell me he sees these all the time. tell your dad to get a petscan. Upper lobe means the place in the lung, upper lung. Please, please i'm not a doctor, this is just what i'm going thru. You can writte me back with any other questions.

I have patchy nodules 2.3x2.2 in lungs.
How did you resolve your nodule issue? can you reply?
I had a lot of nodules. They scanned me every 6 months for 2 years. They never grew probably an infection when I was little. 10 years later nothing. I stopped doing the lung scan but have an anuerysm and my chest is scanned every years and the nodules are fine lung cancer was rulled a long time ago.
