Excessive Burps

I was searching for information on burps that wont go away. I ran into some old posts that were kind of related so I want to see if any has found a diagnosis and or cure. My symptoms started 1 1/2 years ago in Feb. of 2008. I was sitting around the house and I started belching and have never stopped ever since. I belch any where from 1 - 30 times per minute!

I saw a doctor in April of 2008, had an endoscopy which revealed H-Pylori and a small bit of hiatal hernia but the docs claimed neither resulted in the chronic burping. I have had stomach problems all my life. Nothing diagnoised just severe stomach aches, and episodes that feels like I'm passing gall stones every now and then. I have seen almost every specialist there is and no result. I heard cider vinegar may help produce acid because the levels could be too low. I tried the protonix thinking it could be phsycological. I changed my diet, got checked for celieac disease...,my next step is to request a colonoscopy.

I recently had a break thru in this mysterious illness. As I mentioned, I have been belching non stop for a year and a half...well a few days ago, my 6 year old son starting belching and hasn't stopped since! OMG Now I'm inclined to think this illness is either hereditary, contagious or has something to do with our environment. I'm making an appointment for my son and together his doctor or my doctor are going to have to figure this out. I even considered calling that medical miracle TV show  because this is extremely rare. No doctor has a clue! Well now more than ever I am on a mission to figure this out. I have dealt with it for a long time and sufferred with all types of depression because of it. There is no way I can allow my 6 year old to let this take a toll on his mental health. If anyone has an update on this condition, please offer me some insight. I am determined yet terribly afraid....

I don't know if you found an answer already but I am posting my experience to help out any other person. I had the same problem, burped 100 times a day, long dragging burps. Doctors did every test in the world on me, was taking anti acids, they went into my stomach to see If there was something causing my burping. They told me to stop eating pepper and tomatoes completely. One day I woke up and the burping ceased. After 8 months of everything and nothing worked, It suddenly just stopped. Ask me how, for three days, I traveled to a different state, and they delivered breakfast. I ate a heavy breakfast and the burping seized completely. I was shocked. I had always skipped breakfast now I know it truly is the most important meal of the day. I just couldn't believe something so simple as a heavy breakfast could solve my problem. Please if you are going through excessive burping and the doctors can't point to a specific thing causing it, try eating a heavy breakfast, it solved mine completely.

It didn't quite solve mine completely, it solved it temporarily but omeprazole solved it completely, just make sure you are on a steady dose and be patient in a month you should start seeing results
