The gastrointestinal symptoms may be due to Metformin such as gas, pelvic pain. If you are overweight, I think that Metformin may help in addition to losing weight. However, the most recent studies show that women with PCOS do better with taking fertility medication called Clomid then with Metformin alone and so it may be better for you to take Metformin and Clomid. Most people start with just the Clomid pill and try this for about 3 to 6 total cycles before moving on to IVF. I suggest seeing a fertility specialist called a Reproductive Endocriniology and Infertility specialist if you have not done so already.
I understand perfectly what you're going through....I'm currently only taking Metformin and prenatal pills only to assist me in finally conceiving our little miracle...Eventually, if the Metformin doesn't help, I'll have to start something new...What is Gonal F?
Hello. Mu husband and I have been trying for 4 years to get pregnant. I am 23 and he is 27. We have tried clomid, metformin, had an hsg done and no blocked tubes, and he has been checked out also. I was diagnosed with PCOS. I do not have regular preiods. I recently started seeing a specialist and took Femara days 3-7 and Gonal F multi dose. Anyone done this?
Hello Dr. Kim,
Thank you so much for your advice. I have heard so many things about Clomid. One of the biggest challenges I have at the moment is tracking when I'm ovulating and using the best conceiving method. The one good news I received recently after informing my GYN about the type of vaginal discharge I was having, was that blood work done to me that same day had confirmed that I had ovulated. My husband and I only made 2 attempts to conceive. However, I got my AF A.K.A. Menstrual Period on July 4th and now am looking forward to my next ovulating cycle. Do you think I can benefit from Clomid after being told that I had a positive ovulation cycle last month and my menstrual period has begun to show signs of normality within the last 2 months? My HSG results were also good; my tubes are apparently both fine.
I've read also that taking hot showers is not good for men. My husband has always taken hot showers, oddly even in the summer, but after getting himself checked out, he was told that he is fine...and that his sperm count is just fine. Can his long hot showers affect every attempt made to conceive even though he was told that he is okay?
