What's Happening To Your Body

At this point, some pregnant women have gained a few pounds while others have lost some due to morning sickness. The hormonal changes that cause nausea and other symptoms may also be causing your skin to break out.

If you have not chosen an obstetrician yet, now is the time to do so.

 

What's Happening To Your Baby

Your baby is the size of a blueberry. Your baby measures about 1/6 to 1/5 inch (4.2 to 5.1 mm) long from crown to rump.

The umbilical cord, which connects the baby to the placenta, will begin to form by the end of this week. The placenta provides two essential functions: delivering oxygen and nutrition from your blood supply to your baby, and transporting your baby’s waste out of the womb.
