Endo Visit (High Hemagoblin SP(?)

Apr 05, 2010 - 2 comments

Had my three month endocrinologist visit today along with finally finding out what my A1c levels were today. As it turns out I have an A1c level or 8.1. The doctor finally explained to me that A1c levels don't necessarily correspond to a person's blood sugar level. A person can have an average blood sugar of 140 like I did and have an 8.1c level, or have average high of 200 and have an 8.1 c level. He raised my Lantus level to 32u and he wants me to shoot for a new average blood sugar of 120. I just hope that with things picking up so fast that I can manage to make it. I also found out that I weigh 114lbs and I'm about 5.4.

Coaching Seminar + Big Lunch

Feb 20, 2010 - 0 comments

I had to be up earlier than usual to attend a coaching seminar for a possible job so I got a little off schedule today. It didn't help that I had sort of a big lunch (I usually don't eat lunch as often) because i was hungry and I foolishly didn't adjust my evening mealtime bolus to account for the lunch high that I had for fear that it would get too low when I took my evening lantus shot. At the least I didn't have to worry about that but I've been trying to lower my 200+s if at all possible. It's my personal goal to have a month (or a few if at all possible) where I don't have a single blood sugar over 200.

274

Had some pizza for my birthday today. I'm pretty sure that's why I had a 274 reading today after dinner because the cake and ice cream I had for dessert was sugar free. I'm making an exception for today but if i can help it this will be the first and last time this year I will have a blood sugar over 250.

Misread Symptoms

Jan 01, 2010 - 0 comments

Had a sugary drink I probably shouldn't have had because I thought I was going to get a lower result  after dinner (happens sometimes when my lantus peaks). Turns out it must have been in the 180-200ish area when I drunk the drink because it was 247 after dinner. I'm really hoping that my higher levels over the last week are done for now that the holiday season is over and I can get back to my normal routine (and stop misreading my symptoms).
