I think it was the combination of Potato Beef Soup with Crackers (not plain saltine, the rounded brownish type), and 1.5 sticks of garlic bread for dinner. It rose my blood sugar up to about 339 2 hrs later. I took 10 units of Humalog and about an hour later it was back within range to 142. I was hoping to go another month without having one over 300 (don't usually have them more than once a month if that) but at the least my other 4 highs this month have been no higher than 220. At least now I know (I also didnt know it was Potato Beef and thought it was just plain beef like i had sunday until I asked my mom about it.)

So after 5 days of going back to 29u of Lantus I had a moderately low day yesterday and morning lows almost every day, and the last few nights I've been eating a bigger bedtime snack to try and compensate for it. Starting last night at bedtime I decided that I'd split up my lantus dose to inbetween 14 and 15 on the syringe and take a shot each at every 12 hrs. I started last night and ate a bigger snack last night as well to compensate for it being low which explains today's highs. Tonight I think Im going to do the 14 in the daytime and the 13 before I go to bed with a lighter bedtime snack. I really hope it helps with the morning lows and I hope that it doesnt end up causing evening lows as well.

Went to the endo today. We had the standard tests done and I had a large amount of Ketones in my urine. I also had been losing weight the last 2 visits and the doctor thinks that the ketones could be causing it. Before the visit I rarely drank water (not as much as I should have been). I also had some problems with morning lows so I had reworked my humalog and lantus dose. I had gradually lowered my lantus from 29u at night and ended up taking anywhere from 10-14u before bed and a baseline of 5 units of Humalog before a meal if the bg tests were in range to keep it there. The doctor said the ketones could also be a result of there not being enough insulin in the body so I reverted back to my original 29u of insulin. Next appointment is in December where A1c will probably be taken.
