We went back to the doctor today she has lost more weight now weighing 5lbs 3oz, shes spitting up most all of what shes eating so the doctor is admitting her into Nationwide Childrens Hospital onto The GI unit. There will be specialists looking at her and they will have the feeding team work with her. Something else I forgot to mention before she is having bad swallowing problems, when feeding her you can hear her making a gulping noise then everytime you pull the bottle out of her mouth she continues to swallow like she trying to catch up she also coughs alot while feeding. Shes on a newborn nipple so i dont think it is caused by to big off a hole in the nipple. We now have a couple hour ride ahead of us so we should get going. I will keep everyone updated. Today Abby went to the doctor for the first time. Unfortunatley it wasn't good news at all. She has lost weight which is normal for babies to do but there only suppose to lose up to 10% of their weight and Abby has lost 12% of her weight. Her doctor has increased the calorie intake in her formula and prescribed her some Zantac for acid reflux in hopes that will stop her spit up. She told us that we have to come back on Thursday to see if she is doing any better if she has stayed the same weight or lost weight she will have to admit her into Nationwide Childrens Hospital for further evaluation. I hope she starts gaining weight.

Yeah were being released from the hopital today. everythings still pretty much the same with abby though she did gain a ounce. her jaundice is better and she still isnt eating very well and what she does eat shes spitting back up. Why does she cough so much shes been doing it since she was born. she couldnt be sick yet could she? We had to change her formula from similac advance to similac isomil hopefully she will be able to keep it down.

Abigail Jersea was born today Weighing 5lbs 14oz and 18 3/4 inches long. her head measured 13 inches. She is a little jaundice (high belly rubin) but not high enough for treatment. She doesnt seem to be eating very well shes only eating between 7-15ml every 2-3 hours and she should be eating 2oz every 2 hours. im concerned but the doctors say not to worry that she will catch up its just because shes so small. but shes also spitting up alot. shes spitting up just as much as shes eating.
