I danced for about 5 years when I was a preteen and teenager. I stopped due to pain in my knees worsening. I have had the pain in my knees ever since. I can not run or sprint without a knee giving out. My knees randomly swell up roughly once a month or more if I walked a lot the day before. They pretty much hurt every day. They pop almost daily which usually hurts. Half the time my knees feel out of place and I have to twist them in order to make them pop to ease the discomfort.
I have been in a few car accidents but I do not know if it caused the knee problem. I used to roller blade on a daily basis for about 4 years when I was a preteen/teenager. I also played volleyball for 3 years some of which I did not have knee pads for diving. I played basketball for 3 years but stopped once my knees started to give out when attempting to run across the court. I used to ride my bike a lot when I was a kid. I recall the pain in my knees starting I believe when I was 11 years old. I was riding my bike down a bridge when a car came out of the alley at the end and hit me. He ran over the front half of my bicycle pinning me to the curb under my bike. I never went to the doctor about it. It's possible I assume that the accident may have started the problem with my knees.
I would like to do something about this problem but I want to make sure I start in the right place. I do not have a lot of available money to throw out the window in hospital bills. I would rather go to the right place the first time. So if anyone can tell me what kind of doctor to see specifically it would be greatly appreciated.
