We had our baby shower today.  It was a great event.  Couldn't have planned it better myself.  My sis flew in from TX on thursday night.  She and mom took an unplanned trip friday morning to visit Gma since we weren't sure if Gma would be able to come to the shower.  On friday, I took off a few hours from work and met my sis and cousin at my house to get started setting up.  I still had half of the popcorn bags to finish.  Meanwhile my cousin set up all the dishes she brought with her from NC.  That night, my best friend from college and her family got into town.  We all went to my mom's for dinner that night.
Saturday morning I tried to relax and was able to sneek away to get my nails done.  Right at 2pm, my aunt and uncle from NC arrived.  From then on, we had a steady steam of people arriving.  We invited all - men, women and kids.  I felt like it was my wedding, trying to get around to talk to everyone.  Barely getting enough to eat for myself.  DH and I even had the huge cake it cut.  It was bigger than our wedding cake.  Overall we had about 43 people, including kids.  Our house held up really well - it has a great open plan.  It also helped that the weather was great and people were able to go outside on the back porch.
We had 4 games:  decorating oneies, guess mine and DH ages from pictures from when we were young, "make a baby" with play-doh and guess mine and DH circumference as we hug.  The games were great!  many of the men pertisipated too.  We gave $10 gift cards to the winners of each game.
We also had an Easter egg hunt for the kids in the front yard.
Since we had so many people, we didn't open gifts infront of everyone.  We opened them later just infront of close family.  We got tons of stuff.  Our friends and family are so generous.  A few things are duplicates but if I take them back, it should be enough to get the few things we still need...like a crib mattress.
I couldn't have asked for a better shower.  Just want I wanted...a big party for Lil' Miss Bean.
fyi: we have a name picked out but we're not telling anyone until she's born.  :)

another routine appointment this morning.  blood pressure was good. urine was fine.  weight...err.  they say it was fine but i think its too much.  also they weighed me on a different scale and it was about 3 lbs off from my home scale.  guess there's not much i can do.
baby's heart beat was up in the 150s.  She was awake and kicking while we were in the waiting room.
asked the doc about my feet swelling.  she said to elevate them and drink water.  if they are swelling from something salty i ate, she recommended drinking caffine to help flush out the salt.  Interesting.
also asked the doc about why my left foot and my left hip joint hurts sometimes.  she said there's more stuff (colon, etc) on the left side of the body so it gets more cramped from the baby and could be causing the pain.
another appointment scheduled in 2 weeks.

Almost 30 weeks!  10 more to go!
DH gave me his cold.  :(  He'd been snooring a lot the past week so I haven't slept too well.  Last night I finally decided to make up the guest room bed so DH slept there.  I felt so bad but I think we both slept better.  He said he was still all stuffed up = snooring.  And I woke up so much to cough and blow my nose.  We would have kept each other awake all night if we were in the same room.  I've been drinking lots of OJ and taking a tylenol when I need it.  trying to keep away from sudefed unless i really need it.
Baby was sleeping durning the exam today.  Her heart rate was 120-130s.  My blood pressure was a little high but it could just be from the cold.  Belly measured right on target:  30 cms for 30 weeks.

We've had a good long weekend visiting DH's parents in FL.  They're having a bit of a cold spell so the weather isn't as warm as we were hoping.  But its nice to relax, watch tv, go for walking and bike rides.  And be totally spoiled by DH's mom.  She makes all our favorite foods.  Too bad we have to go back home today.  I could get used to the retired life.  :)
