Jun 11, 2011 - 0 comments

I have seen this "live...laugh...love" all over the internet today and it started me to thinking...I should just get out there and live...laugh...love and I will feel better...NOT! I got out and about, did some errands went to the store....a little bit of living. I got short of breath several times and my heart was racing at 130 bpm just walking into Wal-Mart lol.  I told a few jokes to my kids..played a few jokes on my kids and laughed a whole lot. That only made me exhausted! My son hugged me and told me how much he is going to miss me when leaves for college in august and that made me want to cry... So tell me why is life so hard on me?

I just finished my 30 day monitoring and it was a trying time. My PVC's are back and in full force. My heart rate is 100 - 120 resting and getting higher. I told my cardiologist and he said that because my blood pressure was so low 88/56 that he could not give me any more beta blockers. The electrophysiologist wants to see me next week hopefully he can help me. Since the beginning of May my heart rate has be creeping up and I am use to having a heart rate of about 70 and now I'm sitting on my couch running at 114. Then today was so hot...102 degrees I had 3 doctors appointments starting at 9am with the hematologist, had to get my port flushed, then at 11 my daughter had to go to the dermatologist, then at 3 I had to go to the endocrinologist...just to make sure my heart rate wasn't related to hyperthyroidism (which I had a few years ago from Amiodarone). The endocrinologist said that he thinks the heart rate problem is coming from my heart failure, since my EF is only 30% the heart is compensating by beating faster, which actually makes sense. I slept today when I finally got home...such needed rest.

I have been looking at the vast amount of medications that I take for various ailments I take 14 pills in the morning and 18 pills at night. I have been looking through internet research trying to find combination drugs, cheaper drugs, and drugs that don't interact with my main pills that I can't change...This is going to be a long one, so get a cup of coffee and read on :)...
- I take coumadin for A-Fib (stroke prevention) but also for Deep Vein Thrombosis so this drug will never change...it is one of my life long drugs. IT is also the hardest drug to get along with in comparison to any of the other drugs I take.
- I take Toprol XL and alot of it, I take 125 mg 2 times a day, people that usually take this medicine take way lower doses and only once a day...because it is a once a day medicine. I take it for AVNRT, high blood pressure, and Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).
Then there is  Sotalol 120 mg twice a day, which I take for V-Tach and A-Fib it is also a beta blocker which helps lower my BP even more...surprisingly enough my BP is usually 90/55.
Next on the list is the electrolytes Potassium 20Meq two times per day and magnesium 400mg two time per day for heart rhythm problems and that my blood test usually show that both are below normal when I get hospitalized.
I take Metformin 1000mg per night and Byetta (2 shots per day at 10mcg) for my diabetes, I have a few diabetes complications such as gastroparesis, which I take Reglan 10 mgs before each meal, and foot neuropathy, which I take Neurontin 400mg two time per day.
For my CHF I take Lasix 40 mg two times per day, spironalactone 25 mg per day and Captopril 12.5mcg per day.
I take Iron infusion every few months for beta thallassemia and sickle cell trait (35% of my RBC's are sickle shaped)
I take a nitro glycerine patch for my prinzmetal angina, which in turn give me a migraine which caused me to take Fioricet with codeine almost daily. There are a few bright sides...
I spend alot of time on the internet researching my health problems and medications, I have learned alot about dilated cardiomyopathy and all of it's treatments and test and average prognosis. I have found some programs that help me get the most out of my time in dealing with my health.
WIth all of this research I have been able to keep myself out of the hospital since June of 2009 (inpatient) and last ER visit was October of 2010! with that said I am going to bed...thanks for hearing me out :)

Abnormal Heart Rhythms

I have been have bigeminy since 10pm and there is no signs of it going away. I had an episode earlier today that lasted for 3 1/2 hours! I feel so miserable. I can wait to go back to the EP doctor. I have pushed the button on my monitor so many times they called me back even after 10 pm which they usually don't. I am thinking about another ablation (this will be number 4) something my EP doctor wanted me to think about, thought I was going to try some new anti-arrythmic meds but the anti-arrythmic med that I take right now doesn't work and there are only 3 left that I haven't been on. Well just wanted to talk to someone about it and this tracker was just the ticket. It finally stoped at 2:38am
