what is a patriot?

Apr 24, 2010 - 9 comments

I was indoctrinated by my school, my church, and my parents to the fact that this nation was not necessarily founded upon the concept that we were to adhere to any exclusive belief at first. I did not understand God as a child, and doubt I will ever completely. But this I do know. Every morning, I used to stand with my hand over my heart and pledge allegiance to a flag. This flag stood for a republic, and one nation under God. Now as I stated, my finite mind has not the ability to fully comprehend the concept of an all powerful and loving creator. But I do understand the tyranny that many have given their lives to defend against. We, as Americans, are not only indebted to, but responsible for ensuring their sacrifices were not in vain. I know that many who remember making that pledge are today in positions that preclude them from carrying on the fight to protect the values that this nation was founded under. But the original colonists were facing greater odds. And now, as it was then, there are still those that will lay down their lives to uphold those values. They are in the desert, the mountains, the oceans, in the skies, our neighbors, co workers, families, and friends. Some in the armed forces, some not. If the days of tyranny return to a similar point as when we fought against English rule, there are those who will stand firm and give all to restore the importance of these ideals. Before the pen was mightier than the sword, decisions were made through blood rather than ink. And though the cost was great, its legacy made this the greatest nation in the world. I pray it never comes to such sacrifice again, but If the ballot boxes and the collective voices of those that remember the early morning reaffirmations that used to be made in every public school in the country are not enough, there are those of us that will do what is necessary to give the children of tomorrow the same values we were brought up on, and that through the smoke our flag will still wave.

so simple

"one basic truth can be used as a foundation for a mountain of lies, and If we dig deep enough in the mountain of lies, and bring out that truth, to set it on top of the mountain of lies, the entire mountain of lies will crumble under the weight of that one truth, and there is nothing more devastating to a structure of lies than the revelation of the truth upon which the structure of lies was built, because the shock waves of the revelation of truth reverberate, and continue to reverberate throughout the earth for generations to follow, awakening even those people who had no desire to be awakened to the truth" delamer duverus
