Went to the store with my pal Lumpy...

I'm the lady who sings whatever is on the store radio. I'm the lady who has the shopping cart overfilled and almost bumping into you. And yes, I am that lady who will smile at random people, starts talking to the elderly (they like to talk to random strangers, and they like candy) and just hang out while I grocery shop.

I'm used to going solo. It's funny, I tend to forget Lumpy is there when I go out. Always faithful, and always with me, dear little Lumpy. Lumpy with his odd smile, staring at the people, while I smile at in passing by them. The look on their faces changed, now instead of the occasional smile back, or the rare look of "what does SHE want?"...now I get that look of shock, and awkwardness...a social fumbling if you will.

Lumpy is less lumpy today, and his smile a little less brilliant. I am looking forward to when Lumpy will be no more. In the meantime my husband, and I have worked out many explanations for my scar around my neck. My favorite so far is with his scars on his chest, and mine across my neck... is we are modern day pirates who survived a terrible fight :D

Maybe Halloween next year we can get pirate costumes!

For now I guess when Lumpy is a little less sensitive, I will find him a nice sweater, or scarf to wear when we shop, since I cannot leave him at home.

LOL - I love your story!  I, too, deal with things with humor.  Makes life more fun.  I told my coworkers that it was too bad that I couldn't have had the surgery before Halloween, as I could have had so much fun with the incision/scar.  (Would have been hard to do since I had no idea at that time that I was going to need the surgery!)

Please keep us posted about Lumpy  :)

Aww thanks! I am searching for more humorous TT and RAI buddies. It gets a bit lonely with people being uncomfortable with the whole "C" word. A friend of mine told me to "massage" my boo-boo and I was all afraid to touch it. Yeah, yeah I'm a chicken...four weeks after surgery... I still don't like to touch Lumpy. He likes his personal space! I did manage to work up the courage and POOF Lumpy was half his size! So I am pushing myself to ...ew...yuck...touch it...and stuff...once a day which does seem to help. I am a side sleeper, so Lumpy does rear his ugly head in the morning, but by night he's hardly able to be seen.

Hi!
How is Lumpy today?  I like the idea of naming it.  haha  I think I will steal your idea, if you don't mind.  :)  The doc said he uses a very small incision, about 1 1/2 inches long.  We shall see.  I go for my pre-op next Tuesday and hopefully he tells me that again.
   How are you doing now?

HAHA enjoy :) I'm sure he has more than one twin out there!

Lumpy has been more up than down. I wish I were talking about his "moods".

Yesterday, I looked in the mirror and got a peek at what it will be like once I'm healed. It looked pretty darn good. Once the swelling and red is all out, I doubt anyone will notice. I never had a swans neck to begin with...even when a size 5 I had a turtle neck so to speak.

How are you doing today? Pre-op is a good time. :D Waiting for the operation stinks and is stressful. Sorry, how are you today?

Getting extremely antsy about the appointment.  I have had a feeling that this is really not a good thing and I just want the thyroid gone.  Everyone tells me I am overreacting and just blowing it out of proportion.  Easy for them to say when it's not their body!  I believe in looking at things from every angle, getting as educated as possible, and listening to my body.  My endo wanted the TT before the end of the year but the military base couldn't do it until after the new year.  I have now noticed a swollen area on my left side going from my enlarged thyroid outward.  A family practice doc told me to keep an eye on it - didn't think it was a lymphnode but not sure what it is.  I cannot wait for the surgeon to check it out next Tuesday.

I am a max/min kinda girl. I want the maximum result for the minimum required to do the job. I work full time, home school, mom etc...

I just decided heck, if I have spent almost a decade complaining to doctors and finally I have an answer...finally a diagnosis...and that answer is Godzilla is in my neck attack my thyroid like it's a miniature of Japan, then I want it out...done...over with and hope they never ask me for a second surgery and no more worries of cancer in my thyroid.

To me that was doing the minimum to get the maximum result. :)

It was the all the anxiety leading up to my decision that was the worst. The night before I was to go in, I swear my husband and I both were working on scenarios we could tell the surgeon, so I could back out! LOL The what ifs and worry really is awful. I promise you, it is nothing as bad as what we can think up. The worst of all of it so far was making the choice to have a TT, and waiting for my surgery date. Friday Nov, 13th, 2009 SCARY! Yeah, I chose that date.

If you ever want to talk or anything, just give me a shout. I'm on CA time and often working from my computer.

PS lumpy says hello!

Haha, I love that you named yours Lumpy. I have been affectionately calling mine "Jenny" After a goodfriend at work who would laugh and make fun of my hoarseness or "puberty voice" it would cause, she referred to my nodule as my little gremlin living in my thyroid. I told her if it ended up being Cancer I'm naming the little gremlin after her. :)

Awww thanks! HAHA! Yeah we had some fun times :) I think I was lumpy longer than some because my surgeon didn't use a drain tube. Your Gremlin named Jenny is adorable for the pest that she is! I would look on Ebay and see if anyone is selling an old Gremlin :P LOL I would keep her at my desk and taunt Jenny with Jenny LOL

Love a sister in humor! XOXO
