Twin Help!!??!!

Mar 23, 2015 - 16 comments

So I posted awhile back on my status about my cousin finding out she's pregnant (a surprise at that, go figure) then we found out she was pregnant with twins ( a miracle in itself, super shocker) and now we found out they're identical twin boys.  So for all you twin moms, her shower is coming up in April and I want to get her something that she's REALLY gonna need.  I'm sure she's going to have outfits out the wazoo and I've been buying up things like wipes, diapers and things like that.  Is there something that she's REALLY gonna need that I'm not thinking about?

Hmm this is hard to say cause everyone uses different things. My top list; a video monitor, a really good diaper bag which is hard to find cause you don't want one to bulky yet you want one with a lot of room. If she's formula feeding I'd suggest the doctor brown formula pitcher. Swings were a must in my house. A double stroller. It all depends on what you want to spend. Newborn pillows were great (they are like boopys but without a whole in the middle) I'm sure you've seen pics of my boys in there's when they were babies. Well these were my must haves. I'm sure there's more that I can't think of right now.

Okay thank you Lily!!  Those are wonderful ideas!! I didn't want to just get diapers, you know?  Even though we both know she could probably use A LOT lol. I don't think she's going to be able to breast feed (You never know though) because she had problems producing milk when she had Kelly.  Thank you so much for the ideas!

Also I've heard other twin moms rave about the rock n plays.

I don't have twins (as you know) but the rock n play, the lounge pillow (not the boppy nursing pillow) and tons of bottles if she's formula feeding.

The rock n play is small and portable and you can rock baby so easily, good for colic/reflux issues like M had being on an incline and easily moved to any room of the house.

The lounge pillow we still use even though M is 2 1/2ft tall now. She felt comfy in it and it helped my arms not loose feeling with my neck injury.

Bottles because I was always out when I was dead tired. I found 15 bottles for M made life easier for me. If she's anticipating colic or similar symptoms I would buy the Dr Browns first. I expected M to have tummy issues and really didn't want to clean those Dr Brown bottles (they are a pita!!) the other brands of anti colic bottles didn't compare.  Lily is the one who said Brown's bottles worked and she was right on.

The little remedies emergency kit I used almost everything in it for M. I didn't want to have to go out in the middle of the night for things. I would also pick up a bottle of infants Tylenol and gas drops. You can either buy the kit and add the extra items or make your own.

All these products are on Amazon and babies r us.  Hope this helps :)

Yes Ellen, very helpful, tysm!!!  I just want to make sure I bring something very useful other than gobs of diapers lol.  I know she'll use each and every one but I wanted something else to take that would be used just the same.  Thank you so much for sharing yours!!  I have a feeling the "grandmothers" will be getting the super needy things, matching things like car seats, strollers etc.. but I'm really interested in the Brown's bottles and the Brown's formula pitcher and the Swing/Bouncy chair combo.

You girls are great with ideas!!

We have a swing bouncy combo that plugs in so you don't have to blow thru batteries.
The rock n play we got vibrated too with one C battery. If you need me to send you links of the items let me know.

A gift idea that doesn't cost much is a coupon book she can redeem for help or time away from the baby for a couple hours.

Yes please,  links would be nice.  I was telling Kellie that I'm on Google typing in key words hoping I come across the right item lol.  All I'm used to is dog stuff.  Lol I can find that in a heart beat.  She has her cribs and car seats already.  Found that out today. Her sister said she mentioned wanting something that goes from the crib to the floor I'm assuming?  Ugh can't remember what she said exactly.  Some sort of interchanger? I'll have to go back and look at that again.  I'm actually really excited for her and she's so scared and nervous poor thing.  I want to help as much as possible.  Thank you Ellen!

Des
Will email links this evening or tomorrow.
I think your smart not getting clothes. We told everyone we had clothes for M and they still bought her some!!! Needless to say we have tons of new clothes that she never wore once she was out of preemie stage.  Diapers are wonderful to get but if her babies that grew like M she went up a size almost each time we ran out of the case. I would think stores would let you return them for the correct size (I hope) if I can help in anyway let me know. I will send you my number.

Lol Lily!  Well I found this combo kit.  It has the bottle stand and everything.  I had no idea about the cleaning, oops!!  I know she's going to try to breast feed again.  Her sister said she purchased a pump.

Tysm Ellen, no hurry.  Shower is April 11th.  :)   Yes I definitely didn't want to get clothes.  The diapers I'm going to purchase in advance, meaning like size 1's and bigger sizes for future use.  I figured most would probably be getting those in the size she'll need now and I'm sure if she gets to many they can be swapped out.  I want to get some for future use mainly.  Now don't get me wrong, I can get lost for hours in baby clothes, I mean who couldn't lol...BUT I know she'll be getting tons and I want her to have a good bit of stuff she needs other than just the clothes.   :D

I would suggest the swing as well! I did get a lot of clothes and my boys were growing faster then anything so they didn't get to wear a lot of their gifts.  I think onsies are probably good, swaddler blankets too.  Diapers galore!! My suggestion would be to tell your cousin to get on a subscription plan too.... either Amazon, Target, Diapers.com.  But my biggest suggestion right now would be to sleep and enjoy it, after they arrive forget it, you'll never sleep peacefully again.

Thank you so much Journey!   Those are great suggestions.  I started my diaper "collection" today lol.   I was thinking that also about the clothes.  They're going to get SO many as it is and they'll grow out of a lot before they even have a chance to wear them.  So no clothes from me lol.
