Should I head to the ER?

Jun 25, 2010 - 6 comments

For the past few days I've been having severe pressure in my cervix area, and terrible lower back pain. I've tried to lay down to see if that helps but it doesn't, baby is still moving all over the place, and I'm not bleeding I just don't know if I should wait until my next Dr's appt which is July 6th (he will be doing a cervical exam at that time to see if I'm dilated or if my cervix has thinned out) or if I should just go to the ER. Has anyone had this same experience? I'm really scared that it might be pre-term labor since I will be 27 weeks tomorrow, but I have no previous history of having pre-term ladies. Please just give me some insight on this situation ladies, especially those of you that have had the same/similar situation, thank you all so much!

Hi there, I would definitely call your OB and tell them what is happening. They will be able to let you know if they think you should go. But if you are having a bad feeling about it I would definitely go. It is better to be safe, and then you can put your mind at ease too. Good Luck!

I would rather be safe than sorry.  I had the same thing around 29 weeks, I was feeling some pressure and thought I may have overdone it cleaning.  I was contracting every 2 minutes and dialating when I got to the hospital.... I had no clue and was shocked.  But, they caught it and I am now 35 weeks and still trying to hold him in =)

Thank you very much for your comment, that sure does reassure me if something is wrong they can try to or stop it.

It's probably nothing (maybe braxton hicks), and I would have dismissed it as just that if my mom didn't force me to go to the hospital.... but I am proof that you just never know.  Doctors would rather you have it checked then something happen they could have prevented.  Just as long as they can catch it before your water breaks they usually just give you a shot and it stops them immediatley =)
Let me know how you are and good luck!
