Saoirse Elizabeth's Birth story.

Thursday July 29th at 11 am I had my 38 week check up. I was 2cm 50% effaced and she was still high. the doctor said it would  be a while before she was going to make an appearance. I went home and carried on with my routine. Around 4 pm I was having some backache and a little cramping but I put that down to the exam. After dinner at 7 I was washing the dishes and I had a strong contraction, but then nothing for a while. At 9pm I started getting contractions that would be between 5 and 10 minutes apart but every other were really strong, so I called the doctor. Because this was my second child and we were an hour away he told me to come to the hospital and get checked out.We left at 10:15pm, I was convinced this was false labor until 20 minutes away when the contractions increased. I got to the hospital at 11:15pm and was only dialated 3cm but had terrible back labor. The doctor arrived at 12:15 and I was 6cm. He wanted to break my water but I asked to have the epidural first. At 12:30 I got the epidural. The doctor broke my water at 12:45 and told me to rest and he would be back in half an hour. 5 min later I felt the urge to push so the nurse checked me and said I was ready she got the doctor and at 12:55 I started pushing . She was delivered 5 mins later July 30th at 1am, a beautiful black haired girl at 5lb 13oz, 19 inches long.
I am so blessed to have my wonderful 21 month old son and now a beautiful little girl. My family is complete and I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I could not ask for more.
