A New Week

Aug 24, 2008 - 2 comments

The problem is that I start to feel better then I begin lifting things and I strain the muscles in my neck doing so.  It's just no fun. I'm wary of picking up anything heavier than a pillow.

Because of my lifting my neck is still strained when it should be getting better.  Lots of tightness thus lots of anxiety for Deb.  My surgeon told me the tightness should disappear after about 4 weeks so I have another two weeks to go.

Good news is the Synthroid seems to be kicking in.  Thank you God.  Now for my neck to feel normal again.  I wonder if it will really take another couple of weeks?  Everything seems to take longer than the professionals tell me it will.  Guess most of them have not been in our shoes.

Hang in takes 6 to 8 weeks for meds to start working well, and you need to build up dosage gradually. It could take a while. As far as the healing is concerned and tightness, I have read many comments on that does take a few weeks to start getting better. Just relax and try not to over do you want to search for other peoples comments on throat tightness after surgery, try searching the thyroid forum....upper right corner on forum page.
Feel better! :)

Deb ~ Please take care of you and listen to your doctor.  Yes, sweetie, it will take another two weeks and just lift pillows for now, ok?  Our bodies are wonderful and they heal remarkably ... just have to give them time to recuperate.  I've got two weeks to sit still as well and it is difficult when we're used to "doing" ... perhaps we can be "take it easy buddies" until then!  :]

Glad you are past your surgery and sending you the warmest (((hugs))) for your speedy recovery!

Sunshine wishes ...
