Infertility

Last week I became a great aunt & was also diagnosed with PCOS. So now I'm just figuring out what I should do as my med. insurance doesn't cover infertility stuff & the OB I'm seeing doesn't perscribe like anything other then Clomid. Next up is Sperm Analysis & seeing if  they will give me Metformin to regulate my period. Or if I should try other stuff. I'm also trying to lose weigh as I'm [email protected] 5'7" Maybe that will help but doubtful as I was irregular when I was skinny too.

I know how hard it is to deal with pcos.. I also have it... I have had it all my life... In the begining when I was younger i got preg very easy with just a little help,,,but now 2 mc later and still trying not so easy anymore... IM on metformin and clomid Im ovulating but Im not getting preg,,, As for your dr get a new one... My insurance dont cover infertility either... my dr gives me the clomid with no problem... I just make apt for like my pap test or my period is late then talk to them about my infertility problems... Just so they write down that im here for a pap test no infertlilty... My insurance covers it....Good luck to u !!

This is the 3rd Dr. I've seen and the 2nd OB in the last year lol. They've already told my insurance company that I have Infertility. I did do clomid for 6 cycles, all cycles I seemed to ovulate (positive OPKs, ovulation pain, and period 14-18 days later) the last cycle of Clomid I never ovulated, that was May 2010. I wasnt monitored on it at all. This new Dr. wants to give me only clomid again - cause they will not give metformin as they dont think it works unless you have insulin issues - but she will only give me clomid for 3 cycles and then refer me to a specialist. Right now I'm trying to lose weight and I started taking FertilAid to hopefully regulate my cycles. we shall see

I was on the pill for 13 years and went off the pill 8 months ago & still haven't started my period.  I went to the gyno & he said this is common, he took blood & tested for thyroid issues & came back normal.  He perscribed Provera for me to take by everyone says that made their acne horrible and just made them start but didn't help them to cycle regularly.  I have hated all the side effects of being off the pill.  Dropped weight (I am 120 as is) so losing wasn't what I needed, by boobs got smaller, I am breaking out and even on my back which I never did before.  I have heard that some people get really bad acne after a year of being off the pill, has this happened to anyone?  My mother had sever PCOS and I am afraid I have it but the Dr. didn't seem to think I did.  I am lost and frustated! Please share any input or your thoughts, I am just curious what other peoples experiences are.

You should just ask for the FSH, LH and Testosterone testing which will help point to PCOS if you do have it. I've been told it can run in families in different forms. In my experience nobody in my family has PCOS but my mother has diabetes which can trigger PCOS in offspring...or so I'm told
