I went into Philly today to attend the funeral of a friend's father. He had been in poor health and suffering greatly but mercifully passed in his sleep. He was a former navy man and a retired police officer. They had both the Naval honor guard and the Phila. Police Dept. honor guard there to send him off in a proper, dignified and much deserved manner. When the police officer played Taps I was overcome with such emotion, it had such an effect on me. I wept for his family and I wept for our soldiers. Upon arriving home I learned that yet another police officer in Philadelphia had been killed ( I believe it's the 4th this year). Unfortunately, Taps will once again play.
