Well...I am finally getting online, 3 weeks after her glorious birth to share her story. This website has been such an inspiration to me throughout my fertility treatments and then through my pregnancy. I only hope I can share a small piece of information that can be of benefit to someone else!
My official due date was June 9th but since I had gestational diabetes I was told they would induce me on the June 6th if I did not go into labor on my own. I was told she would weigh about 8 pounds so they didn't want me to go past my due date.
I started having contractions over the weekend, the 6th was a Monday, but told myself it didn't matter she was coming on the 6th anyway. Finally the morning of the 6th arrived and we headed to the hospital. I was still having contractions. I told the nurse and she said sure enough I was in labor, contractions every 2-3 minutes apart. The doctor came in and checked me and I was 2 cm and 80% effaced (an improvement since my last doc appt). She decided not to start the pitocin and instead break my water. It worked and my contractions starting coming every 1-2 minutes lasting longer. She broke my water around 10:30am and by lunch time I got the epidural (which took 5 tries and 2 different doctors). Around 4:00 I started feeling pressure which the nurse said was probably my bladder because at 3:30 I was still 5-6 cm. So she emptied my bladder and turned my on my side and BAM! I felt like the baby was coming out. Sure enough Hattie Catherine was born at 4:50pm after 3 short pushes. It was an amazing labor and delivery, by far the easiest of my four children.
Hattie weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. She is gorgeous, looks like her brothers. We are so blessed!!
