My mother is 49 years old and has several health problems. She has Hepatitis C, coronary artery disease, and kidney failure. She has had three heart cath procedures to open her arteries, the most recent this past May. She went to the doctor today because she wasn't feeling well and was having shortness of breath. The doctor told her to go to her cardiologist, and also told her he needed to do blood work because he noticed her skin yellowing. So, he is going to check her billy rubin levels.
She is unable to receive treatment for her hepatitis C because of her kidney disease. My elementary understanding of this is her kidneys would not be able to clear the hepatitis treatment.
So, I guess I am writing this today because I feel so sad and helpless. I feel as if I a watching my mother die slowly and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. I feel like there should be something the doctors can do for her.
I also hope there might be someone in a similar situation I could talk with. If any of this hits home, let me know.
