well, as most of u know..I'm in the process of OB shopping..again. Since my RE passed away 5days ago. went to this Dr who was recommended by my RE's nurse she said he was trained by him..ok..
so I go in..Dr is nice, educated and a lil old around early 50s I'd say. he asked the usual questions history etc etc..then he examined my stomach weight, hight and chest.
he said general health is good but stomach is quite hard - indication of cramping -  which I'v been feeling mildly..he asked me to stay on complete bed rest for a couple of days until he identifies the cause of it. took a urine sample for culture in case its another UTI
then he said that I'v gained SO much weight..funny cuz RE (God rest his soul) thought I wasn't gaining enuf..well I think 8 kgs isnt too much and isn't little either..blaah!..don't care.
I must say he scared the living **** out of me claiming I will most likely have a scheduled c section cuz of my weight! WTH! is it this bad?!!? also because I'm having cramps now I might go into labour early!..
dunno what to think..I'm feeling a lil depressed right now that everything isn't going like it shud b..not sure if I'm going back to c him again..what do u ladies think?  oh he also asked me to take progesterone suppositories again is he for real!!
I need advice can't think straight n for some reason can't stop freaking out..is it so bad that Im having mild cramps and heaviness right now? is it the braxton hicks? he claims its not possible to get them until ur in ur 8th month..what about all the articles n books we've read don't they count for anything?!

Plz help I'm really worried!

maybe you should keep shoping for a Dr That is just crazy talk about a csection unless you have tiny hips hun or breeach baby fetal distress etc not from weight ive never heard that before .  With my secound i got braxton hicks from 7 months until delivary and guess what i had to be induced he wasnt comming out lol so  i think you will be ok just try to relax stay on bed rest  until you can get a 2nd opinion . Its almost over you will be hugging on your baby boy soon enough :) and u may miss beaing pregnant i know it sounds weird but i miss beaing pregnant after i have my babies and look at my stomach and my missing bump i feel sad lol i know im a nut  take care sweetie xx Loretta

I had braxton hicks with my sone before 20 weeks.  My stomach would get REALLY hard for about 30 sec and then go away.  It didn't hurt - just a lot of pressure.  When I went for my first ultrasound I mentioned it to the doctor and he wasn't worried about it at all.

At that point I had only just broke even on my weight as I lost 8 lbs at the beginning of my pregnancy, but I managed to put on 40 lbs by the time I delievered.  (I'm not sure what the exchange is between kg and lbs.)  So I agree with Loretta.  I don't think weight will have anything to do with a c-section.

I also don't think that early baxton hicks will cause early labor either.  Like I said, I had braxton hicks starting around week 18 and I had to be induced with my son at 10 days late and he wasn't actually born until 12 days late. (not fun, but TOTALLY worth it!)

So I REALLY don't think you have anything to worry about.  I also think you should keep Dr shopping and at least get a second opinion.

Good luck! :)

I didn't realize your OB passed away -- I'm so sorry to hear that!  As for this guy, I don't know if you've gained too much or not but if you think you haven't gained enough then you are probably just fine (I'd worry more if you thought you gained too much already too).  I would keep on shopping for an OB -- I had to do that too after conceiving with the fertility specialist since she doesn't deliver babies.  He just seems full of negative news but at least get another opinion or two before making your decision.  Take care and sorry to hear you are on bedrest!

I agree. Keep on shopping.  He already shows impatience on your very first visit.  Good luck to you.

Yeah I'd look for a different dr. if I were you - he seems a little off. When you go to a new dr, can you ask them to do a transvaginal ultrasound to check your cervical length? The only reason to worry about frequent braxton hicks contractions is if they are causing your cervix to change - mine are causing my cervix to shorten and it now has some funneling, which is why I'm currently on bedrest. If your cervix isn't changing though, I don't see why you should be on bedrest. I hope you find a dr. who knows what they're doing!

I think you should continue the OB shopping. He seems a little odd. Have they checked your cervical length?
And I have never heard of having to have a csection for gaining too much weight!! I mean I could see if you were overweight to begin with. Im wishing you the best of luck in finding somene you can trust again. Hang in there

Sorry bout your RE... That's sad. As for this new OB... Totally bonkers! You are sooo thin and I would agree with your old RE on your weight! What a weirdo this OB is! Keep looking!

Good luck with the appointment tomorrow. I hope this one is a keeper!!

Thanks Ladies, u donnu how much better I'm feeling. I really wish everything goes well for all of us..I keep wondering, y does it have to b hard on SO many levels for us TTCers ...just hope it ends well for all of us.

Leanne, he didn't even do an u/s ..only used the doppler for baby's HB ...donnu if judging by palpating is reliable.

Jenna, hope ur contractions stop soon..bed rest sux! but knowing its for a good reason makes it easier for sure.
I'll make sure I ask the Dr for a vaginal u/s ..need some answers here!..

hi Hala, I think you should keep shopping, but do rest too.  Try to find a doctor that you are really comfortable with. And take care of yourself too!
