Guess it needs it's own entry .... kind of like a "welcome to my saga"

US dated 10/29/08

The isthmus appears normal.  Right thyroid lobe dimensions currently are 1.6 x 2.0 x 4.8 cm compared to prior dimensions of 1.4 x 2.0 x 5.3 cm.  Left thyroid lobe dimension currently are 1.5 x 1.5 x 4.8 cm compared to prior dimensions of 1.3 x 1.6 x 5.0 cm.  These values are not considered significantly changed.

On the right, there is slight diffuse heterogeneity of the echogenicity without a focal lesion.  On the left side, there is diffuse heterogeneity, also without focal lesion.

Impression:  Stable, mild thyromegaly without focal thyroid lesion.  Findings are consistent with a mild pattern of multinodular goiter.

No nodules! This is sounds like you had a nasty case of thyroiditis that is now, finally, calming down--this can last for several months, as it might have in your case. I still don't understand where the potential thyroiditis would've come from, though. When you first started having these problems, were you really stressed out or anything like that?
