Wilmington, North Carolina is beautiful.  With some strange weather.  We've not had much of a winter yet, and today has proven to be one of those gorgeous days that just makes you want to be out at the beach.  I'm sure it's probably much colder right on the water than it is at my house though.  It's probably hovering around the 60 degree mark, but it's so pretty outside.

As for me, I'm ready to welcome 2009 and hope and pray that it is much brighter for all than 2008 was.  '08 was very disappointing for everyone I know.

My pain is at a managable level today.  I'm 2 weeks and 2 days post op from my ALIF w/ posterior instrumentation.  I believe I noted in my journal yesterday that looking at my xray, I was not prepared for the instruments in my back that I saw.  I have metal in my back.  It just seems so weird.  Now I have to explain to airport security that I have hardware in my back and they're going to give me a hard time.  I'll be happy to show them my 5 scars from this one surgery.  Or, if they get cranky with me, I'll show them my old scars too!  I forgot to ask my Dr if I need some sort of little card to carry on my person for incidents like that.  Oh well, I'm not planning on flying anytime soon so I'll save that for later.

I've been working at home today.  I'm an accountant, so the end of the year is a big deal for those who know anything about closing out "the books".

At any rate, I wish the very best to all of those who happen to read my journal entry today, and Happy New Year.  Be safe and smart when celebrating.  As for me and my family, we're loading up on sparkling cider and sparkling grape juice since I can't drink right now because of the medications.  What a bummer.  Nah, not really!

Until next time!
