Getting Prepared

Sep 25, 2012 - 7 comments

So, I am starting to feel a bit better with where I am sitting in being prepared for baby Ryan's arrival.  I went shopping on Sunday, and although I didn't buy any of the big things, I still ended up spending a ton of money on clothes for him.  I ordered my bedding the day I found out we were having a boy so I am hoping that it shows up sooner than later..... I really need to get the nursery painted.  Last night I picked out my stroller, car seat, and swing, so that will be ordered the same time I buy the crib, dresser and change table.  My goal is to get the nursery pretty much set up in the next 2 weeks.... I know it sounds crazy, but Keenan and Jake start hockey on the 13th.  Once that starts I will no longer have any time for preparation, I am sure of it.  I wont even have the weekends when they are at their fathers because he just quit his job here and is moving on the 19th of October.  Lets hope I can finish it all......

He doesn't even know where he is moving to... either Calgary Alberta or Fernie British Columbia.  Either way he will only see the kids on summer holidays (for a week - his words not mine), and every other Christmas.  I am sure that pretty soon the boys will just ask not to go there with him.  He doesn't really do much with them and he live 15 minutes up the road right now.  We will see!

Every other weekend, but he usually has some sort of excuse to not take them when she is supposed to...

I don't think you're crazy at all, if you're going to be busy! I set my entire nursery up by 22 weeks with my son, and I had nothing to do but wait, and I feel the same way now, haha! I have everything except little things and I want to wait til after my shower to get the rest of it, so I'm halted on buying things, except for clothes. And it's definitely his loss, and not yours, at least you'll get all 3 of your boys all the time!

It will be nice to have all the boys all the time.... and I know it is his loss.  It is just very frusterating because my boys are amazing and they are my world.  I just don't know how their own father doesn't see it, or want to spend as much time with them as possible.

I made a list of what I still need to get and my list keeps getting bigger, not smaller.  Last night when I was looking for strollers, I was getting so discouraged, it's not that I can't afford it, but I need a jogging stroller, therefore I need to buy the car seat and stroller separte, and my goodness, anything that is good quailty and is going to last me is going to cost at least $500 just for the stroller.  At least Jeff isn't freaking out over the cost.  He was trying to calm me down.... getting upset isn't going to change the price, he kept saying to me!!  Starting over with baby stuff *****.  I hope my sister has a baby, then I can give it to her.............

How are you making out with the bigger items??

I'm completely starting over, so I get you there! I have everything big except the dresser (still not sure if I'm going to get one or not, with a closet just for her, just don't want to have to hang it all up!) and crib/mattress (waiting on that a bit longer, I get too anxious to set everything up, haha!) and I'm not getting the stroller until March-April because it stays cold until then, but I'll be getting a jogging stroller as well, I haven't looked too much into them yet, I should though! Is this going to be your last baby? If not, you'll have it for your next, and if so, you only have to do it this last time, or you could always resell it or give it to a family member!
