DR advised me to keep track of body temperature several times a day for about a month. I started Saturday Nov 3rd. I have allergies and sinus problems and have reoccurring fevers. With my constant mouth breathing oral temps are usually low.
I was seen at the Emergency Room here in town about two weeks ago with a fever and fatigue. The nurse there took several oral temps and then one ear reading and then she explained it now had to be taken in the rectum. I was reluctant to comply, but finally did, and by rectum the thermometer read 102.6!
Hospital policy, and under the arm is a poor alternative. She informed me that oral and ear temps can be inaccurate. Underarm temps as last resort.
