Ok so came to the hospital at 545am Monday, after being checked by the nurse (still only 1cm) pitocin started at almost 7am. Ob came in at 715am, checked me, still just a 1 (duh!) but he broke my water. Continued with tolerable contractions till about 1130, then the stretching pains got worse. So I finally got my epidural. Was scared as can be, anesthesiologist was great. He put my first (yes 1 OF 2) epidurals in at 12ish. Then nurse put my foley in, and recheked me and still only a 1....realy?!?! but I was still hurting really bad still on the right sde and my foley was illing me.
So we took the foley out, anesthsiologist came back (this time a women, who was really awesome!) did and ice check (tested my feeling on both legs, and of course left side i felt it, but not the temp, and the right....holy hell that was cold lol!) so she tells me we have to take that one out and put another one in. (she said its not totally uncommon to get one that functions only on one side). O so 2nd epidural in, OB back to check on my about 1pm, and bamm...4cm! Alright, so I was close to sleeping after that (Its nice what you can do when the epidural works lol).
So around 4pm Abbys heart rate started to raise. staying in 180s-190s and not dropping with contractions. I started to spike a temp. OB comes in to check me, and what still at a 4 and my cervix is starting to swell ( guess from all the pressure but no changes) so he talks csection, but says we have time. Then OB comes back, his mom got admitted to the hospital and he had to leave (I could tell it wasnt good, so I understood).
Hubby and I discussed csection situation with the new OB and nurse, and went for it. So at 647pm, Abigail Rae was born weight 9lbs 8oz 21 inches long!!! oh my goodness....Thats why I wouldnt dilate, she could get engaged into my pelvis!!! and wow she was huge....well all is good now, we are getting discharged from hosptal today! She lost 4oz since birth (very good) and momma is recovering....csection is definitely harder on the body, esp after laboring for 12hrs.
