My annual check up (5 years) by the liver team at St.Lukes-Cooley center is completed and I m happy to report that my liver is doing great. Biopsy shows some light scarring from HCV. Over the last year, I have been receiving treatment for depression, anxiety and bi-polar from my psychiatrist Dr. Richard Palmer MD. The medications he has me on are effective in my opinion. I am on Long Term Disability.
Over the last four months I have been seeing a Neurologist Dr. Salvador Murra and have been diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy affecting both legs and arms. He says my nerves in those locations are damaged, possibly caused by the Hep C virus. In addition, I have two damaged discs in my lower spine causing moderate to major pain in that area most mornings. I have balance and persistent gait issues. Falling occasionally and often numbness along with tingling pain.
I still have piercing pain daily from the Shingles in my right upper leg. The pain comes and goes. Although, it does itch most times.
I am not working but still an employee with a status of disabled. I am on SSDI and Medicare Part A and B with a status of disabled, but still have medical, dental, vision, life ins., which I pay for monthly out of pocket. Thus I still have prescription coverage from United Healthcare.
