This Black Rat snake, found on my front walk, is harmless. They eat rodents. I put him to work, back out in the yard.

Wolfie..Scott made me get up this close to that dern snake to take the picture.  I was about to piddle my britches. I am terrified of snakes. Thanks Scott!  NOT!

Folks -take another look at the snake's lower jaw. See the markings in the scales? Looks like a set of teeth, right? Right! This one also "rattles," by vibrating its tale on the ground -makes a buzzing noise.

This rat snakes brother took 3 babies birds this morning and devoured them.  I was heartbroken. Scott caught the snake and it bit him. Good thing they are not poisonous.After today, I have lost my interest in the rat snake.  Little jerk!

cj-Scott saved his life and put him in the garden.  Like he says, it's a part of Mother Nature that isn't pretty..
