Athena went for her 5 year check up today and I got some pretty disturbing news....She was presenting symptoms of possible hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  Lisa my vet looked at me and said " I"m sorry Debra". Lisa was there 6 years ago when we lost midnight to thyroid tumors.
She did refer me to the Vet school@ NC State for futher testing, especially the cardiac ultrasound.To confirm her suspions....But I know Lisa she would have never mentioned that word if she didn,t believe it was so.

The sad truth is no matter what we do to prolong her life....It will take her life. We are looking at 6months and maxium 2 years.

August 26th......2012....She is fine and dandy. She gets winded sometimes and I just say " Now Athena, you know that is not good for your heart"
