This is a statue from the buddha during the period he practiced ascetism.

After a period of being ascetic, he decided that it's not a good idea to be ascetic,
and that we should keep our body alive and healthy.

This picture reminds me that the body is a tool and when it's in bad health you can put your mind over matter.
