Mark...this is so much like TwoBits...she also had her favorite chair, a gold recliner. She would snuggle right up against the arm, and in fact, when we both would sit there, she still preferred to sit next to the arm, instead of on my lap. She would never sit in my lap too long..as she seemed to always get too hot...anyway, Eventually, she would even overheat next to the arm, and would make her way to the extended foot rest, where she would be sure to keep all the other dogs at bay.
