Casey (orange) and Bella (buff) were two of my rescue babies. Someone left them (and their brother Joey) in a box on my step with a note. They were 4-5 weeks old at the time and so tiny. Joey was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure at a year old (veterinarian said it had to be a genetic condition, perhaps he was born without proper function to begin with). We had to euthenize him as he was in the end stages of renal failure - we couldn't save him, only extend what would have been a painful existence (twice daily saline injections, prescription food, weekly vet visits). Casey and Bella found a forever home (together) when they were about 18 months old. I miss them, but when you run a rescue, you can't keep every animal that you take in. They were two of the nicest kitties I've worked with.
