hey Jerry! tramadol has some effects on serotonin activity in the brain, even though it is usually used only for pain. Taking tramadol with antidepressants will further increase the effects of both drugs on serotonin. Decreased levels of serotonin results in depression however elevated (abnormally) levels can be dangerous. It can cause neurological side-effects as well as "serotonin syndrome" a severe reaction that causes dangerous elevations in blood pressure. ask your doc about this!
