What It Is: People with hyperopia, or farsightedness, have trouble focusing on objects that are close because their eyeball does not correctly focus incoming light. In this case, an unusually short eyeball or a cornea with too little curvature causes the problem. Prescription lenses solve the problem for most people.
Signs & Symptoms: People with hyperopia have trouble seeing near objects, causing fatigue, headaches or achy or burning eyes after looking at something close-up for a sustained period of time.
Who’s at Risk: Farsightedness is often present from birth, and tends to run in families.
