Simple Ways to Cut Calories

Exercise: Walk It Off

Exercise: Walk It Off

Go for a brisk 30-minute walk (3.5 mph or 17 min./mile) around the neighborhood after dinner, which can torch about 150 calories. “If the environment isn’t safe or it’s too cold out, walking around inside the mall can be just as good,” said Lynn B. Panton, an associate professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences at Florida State University.

Feeling more ambitious? Double your walking time, or jog at a 5-mph (12 min./mile) pace for 30 minutes to burn about 300 calories.
