Pregnancy after D & C

I had a D & C on Jan. 10th and was put on the pill because the Dr. said I needed to wait 3 month before getting pregnant again. Well, we didn't know to use a backup method for the first month on the pill and now I MIGHT be pg again. I had very little light brown bleeding for 3 days. ( A panty liner would last me the whole day). Now for the last 3 days my breasts are very sore. I will have a serum blood test later today to find out for sure. Anyone know the risks of being pg so soon after a D & C? I'm really scared!

I am coming up to 4 weeks since my D&C and have not had a period yet.

Question for you all that answered:  how long did it take you all to have a period after your d&c?  Did it take anyone longer than 28-35 days?

Hi Marie,

I am in the exact same position as you.  I had a D&C the 4th of Feb., and right now I suspect I may be pregnant again.  I spoke to my Dr. and he said the only real issue is if you haven't had a normal period yet, is it is tougher to date.  But ultrasound can take care of that in a few weeks.  Other than that, no real reason to wait. In fact, he told me only needed to wait one full cycle, and I had a pretty nasty miscarriage that lasted 4 weeks before we actually did a D&C.  Don't worry, all will be fine.  There is no reason to believe there will be any extra challanges just because you didn't wait.  Good luck to you!!!

Thanks so much for the hope! I was really getting worried. Just got off the phone with Dr. and he's not doing the test till next Tuesday to give the hormones enough time to rise (if I am pg).

I had my d&c sept21th. Got af Oct26th and Found out I was pregnant in Nov24th. I am now 17w+d's. I dont think there is any "real" risk in getting pregnant soon after........

Don't worry most Dr say that but my DR said that's just b/c they say it's better to get back on schedule......and gives the body time to heal a bit more....My dr said it was ok to get pregnant after my D&C but it actually took us 4 months...
